Chapter 2

-your Pov-

I awoke on a strange hard surface. I sleepily lifted my face up to find I was underwater. Wait? Underwater!? I let out a deep breath. It wasn't a dream...I wish it really was a dream, but I've made my decision. I'm not going back. I'm leaving my biological family behind.

"(Y/N) are you hungry?" Rose asks me. I nod and she hands me a fish. I watch how she eats hers and began to eat mine the same way. Fish sure does taste like shit. A few minutes later we get ready to go. I simply swim after Rose until we arrive at another cave. She ducks her head and swims in. I take a deep breath and do the same. I was greeted by many different faces. "Give her some personal space merpeople!" Rose exclaims as more people crowd around me. It seemed like they never stopped asking questions. "Where are you from?" "What's your name?" "Have you ever met a human?" "Do you havve a boyfriend?" Were some of the questions they asked. Rose sighed and started to introduce me. "Guys, this is (Y/N). (Y/N) this is" she pointed at each person one at a time while saying there name. "Dave, Dirk, Roxy, Eridan, Feferi, Aradia, Jake, Terezi, and Gamzee" each merpersom's tail was a different color. They all smiled at me except Dirk. I was still really nervous... "You guys can ask a few questions." I somewhat whispered. "Where are you from?" Jake asked. I looked down and whispered. "I'd rather not tell.." I didn't want to lie to my new friends. There was an awkward silence for a while. "H4v3 you 3v3r m3t 4 hum4n?" Terezi asked me breaking the silence. "Yes... And it was horrible." I was talking about my little brother. Some of them gasped, while others snickered. "Are you single?" Eridan asked hopefully. "Yes I'm single..." I looked over at rose for help.

"L4y off th3 g1rl 3r1d4n. 4t l34st l3t h3r g3t to know us f1rst." Terezi snapped at him. "Any other questions?" I said a bit louder then before as I got used to the new people. "How old are you, and when did you here?" Dave asked eyeing me suspiciously. "16 and two days ago."

Everybody separated, and talked with their peers. I didn't know what to do because Rose was having a conversation with someone else. Only two other merpeople weren't talking to anybody, and they were Jake, and Aradia. I swam over to jake "hello..." He smiled at me. "Sorry I don't like talking to others much..." I looked down. "Hey, Don't act so sad. Want me to tell you a story?" He asked me. "Sure" I looked up again. Jake was about 20 years old, and it didn't look like he truly fit in with everybody else.

Once upon a time there was a merman and an adventurer. One day the adventurer came across the merman stuck in a fishing net, but unlike most humans he decided to free the poor merman instead of kill him. The two eventually became friends, and wished to truly be together. The merman found a friend who was a sea witch. He begged her to make him human, but she said that she could never let him leave the sea. Instead she gave him a potion to make a human a merperson. The happy merman swam back to his dear adventure and told him the news. The adventurer gladly took the potion and joined the merman in the sea. And here I am now.

Jake finished the story. "You were a human?" I asked him. "Yeppers" I smiled. "Do you ever miss going on adventures?" I asked jake. "Who said I couldn't adventure under the sea?" He smirked and poked me playfully. "Looks like rose wants you back." Jake said looking over my shoulder. I swam over to her, and watched jake join Dirk. They looked cute together.

I followed Rose back to the cave and we both laid down. I waited for her to fall a sleep and swam back to the lagoon. I found a crime scene. There was caution tape and equipment everywhere. I heard someone talking from outside the cave. I quickly went under the water and listened in. "Can you believe that poor girl went missing on her birthday?" "Yes, but can you believe her family is moving away because she's missing?" "No, but can you believe the house already sold?" I couldn't take it. I dove under the water fully and swam away, as the tears gushing from my eyes dissipated into the water. I can't believe my family is moving away. I won't be able see them ever again. My little brother won't have a sister, and my parents won't have a daughter. Why did this happen to me?
