A year after marriage
"Michael, i have cancer." Luke looked up at me with tears stained cheeks and squeezed my hand tight. We sat in silence for what felt like hours-- but it was probably only 5 minutes. He wept and i held him close. "It's okay luke. We can make it through this." He looked up at me and i could finally see it. I'd never noticed it before, but luke was frail and had lost a little color. "I'm sorry i didn't tell you when i told you i loved you for the first time or the second..." I hugged him and held him so close i bet he could hear my heart breaking. "I can't lose you luke. I won't lose you. I love you." Luke smiled weakly. "Through sickness and in health." Michael said smiling back, just as weak.

Luke had finally found motivation to live. He always rejected the chemo, but now he said yes. Michael was there for it all. When luke lost his hair, michael told him he was beautiful everyday. When luke lost so much weight you could see his bones, michael told him he was beautiful. When it looked like luke wasn't going to make it, michael told him he was beautiful.

But luke made it. When they thought the cancer was relentless, it'd finally disappeared.

"Luke, your in remission." The doctor said with a large smile plastered on her face. Michael jumped up with excitement and hugged luke tight, knowing that he would be okay. Luke laughed, as if he couldn't believe the news. He hugged michael tightly and they both knew they were going to be okay. Everything would be okay.

They continued their visits to the doctor for a couple of months to make sure it was actually gone. When they got the news that luke was actually okay, they were happier than ever. Luke was finally okay and he smiled at the thought of (hopefully) never having to visit the doctor to make sure the cancer is gone again.

Exactly a year after luke was told he was in remission, we adopted a set of 5 year old twins. The boys name is jake and the girls is kit. They both had dark brown eyes and blonde hair.

Kit was lively and alway happy. Jake was sweet and was opened to just about everyone. I knew that luke and i would make great parents to them, so after a month of paper work, they were finally ours.

We were a big happy family. We'd have family movie night and sit at the dinner table and talk about our day and despite how dumb that may sound, it was wonderful.

I could see the kids light up as luke walked in the room -- i did to of course. They really loved him, so much. I know they love me to of course.

"Happy 10th birthday guys!" Luke and i set the cake on the table and begin to take pictures. Kit wore her signature pink and fluffy dress whilst jake just wore jeans in a shirt.

Their closest friends were there (including their uncle ash and calum). They blew out their candles and kit forced jakes face into the cake -- they've done this since they were six. We took out the replacement cake and began handing it out.

"We've had these amazing kids for just about five years and i couldn't be any happier." I looked at luke and he smiled at me.

As everyone sat downstairs eating cake, i went to my bedroom and looked at the pictures hanging on the wall. "I love you so much michael." Luke said wrapping his arms around my waist. "I'm so happy to be alive."

And i had finally come to the realization that i wasn't that kid that wanted to throw himself off the bride and admired or envied the kid that did. I wasn't sad anymore and luke is pretty much why. He's made me happy and now kit and jake have to.
