The silence in the office was stifling. The clock on the wall ticked quietly, and the sunbeams that once shone through the wide windows now lazily slid across the floor. Taehyung sat behind a massive desk, his hands clasped, his expression focused yet unapproachable. His thoughts were deeply immersed in the one question that burned inside him:
"How far is Sana capable of going?"
He was almost certain that she was behind the attack on Jennie and their unborn daughter. But he needed more than suspicion. He needed evidence. Not assumptions, not guesses. Not words—but data. Facts.
At that moment, the door opened. Minho entered the room. His expression was usual—professional, but today it carried a hint of tension. He held a black tablet in his hand, which he pressed to his chest.
"Do you have anything?" Taehyung asked quietly, but with a sharpness in his voice that the agent knew all too well.
Without a word, Minho walked over to his desk and placed the tablet directly in front of him. "Yes. We got lucky. Sana used an encrypted account this morning to contact a man named Im Daeyung. He's been under surveillance for a few days, as you requested. Things are moving."
Taehyung immediately sat up straight. "Im Daeyung... that's the guy Sana met two weeks ago at that old hotel on the outskirts of Gangnam, right?"
Minho nodded. "Exactly. We got footage from the hotel cameras. There's no sound, but we tracked their movements. They had a briefcase with them—Daeyung brought it and Sana took it away. It's hard to say what was in it, but..."
"Money?" Taehyung suggested.
"Probably. Or contracts. His activities are linked to several anonymous accounts—including one that recently appeared as the sponsor of a certain 'accident.'" Minho moved to the other side of the table and lowered his voice: "Tae, we have a direct connection."
Taehyung swiped his finger across the tablet screen, which displayed a statement of transactions on a Swiss account. The last transaction took place just three days before Jennie's accident. It was addressed to: "D.K. Holdings – transfer to Daeyung Im – $120,000."
Taehyung froze. "D.K. Holdings... D for Daeyung, K for Kai?" He looked up at Minho.
Minho nodded. "Exactly. The account is held through a law firm that covered your father's activities in the past. It all makes sense."
There was a moment of silence. Taehyung slowly placed the tablet on the table and rested his head in his hands. Then he raised his eyes, dark and focused. "Im Daeyung is the link. But behind it all... is Sana."
"Not directly," Minho said, taking a deep breath. "But we found an email. It was sent from our security network to Daeyung's private server. The email is anonymous, but the digital fingerprint—the MAC address—matches the laptop Sana uses. It was sent the night after the family meeting where you argued with her."
Taehyung clenched his jaw. He remembered that evening clearly. He had told Sana to her face that he was no longer afraid of her. He told her that from now on, she was nobody. And she had just thanked him silently and left.
That was her answer.
"We also have footage from the café where Sana was sitting with the man who last spoke to the driver who hit you," Minho continued. "This man—whose name we don't know yet—had a cell phone with him that sent a signal to the same hotel where Sana met Daeyung. We have location triangulation. And believe me, the police will be able to respond to this."
"What do you suggest?" Taehyung asked calmly, but his eyes were burning with fire.
"We'll put pressure on Daeyung. If we summon him legally, he can remain silent. But if someone takes care of him before we get him to safety... we'll lose everything." Minho hesitated, then added, "And then there's Sana. If she knows we're on her trail, she'll do something impulsive. And that's the problem. If Sana panics... she might go after Jennie. Or the children."
