[ Anna's POV ]

"I don't think that's your business, little girl," Antonio answers my question for grandpa and reaches his arm to grab the box in the cabinet. I raise my eyebrows and look at grandpa for confirmation. He pulls me aside by my arm, while I stare at Chris and Jack, who are still crouched next to Jessica's body. I can't wrap my head around the fact that she's dead... just like that.

"Anna," grandpa shakes my arm to get my attention, "it is going to be okay."

"How do you know?" I hiss and rip my arms away from his hold. He may be family, but I don't trust him anymore. He just pops up like this, out of nowhere? At the place he sent us to? And he just so happens to be wearing the same outfit as the person who went inside Joe's house after we left?

"I know you said that you love Chris, but-," I cut grandpa off by shaking my head and frown. "I never said anything about loving Chris." Why is grandpa suddenly talking about Chris?

"I know you love him, but he's dangerous and you know it too," grandpa says softly and looks me in the eye, making me feel uncomfortable.

"My relationship with Chris is not your business, grandpa," I answer calmly.

"I did not give up my whole life, so you could run off with someone who's making the same mistakes as I was!" grandpa suddenly bursts out and slams his fist on the table. Jack looks up, a confused and angry expression covers his face, but he stays silent, which is shocking.

"If you're mad at yourself, fine, but why do you feel the need to bring my life into it in every chance you get!" I yell back and throw up my arms.

"He's a criminal, Anna, what don't you get?" grandpa exhales deeply.

[ Chris' POV ]

Mom is going to kill me. She trusted me with Jessica's safety and even though she's eighteen now, I'm still responsible for this mess. My little sister. She was the only one who believed in me when things got rough in LA and now there's no one. Even Anna is going to college in the fall and the gang will fucking fall apart after we're back in the States. Jack will move back to wherever he came from and Ryan will never forgive me.

"He may be a criminal, but at least he's not sneaking around behind my back!" Anna screams, bringing me out of my daze. I stand up and straighten my shirt, why is Anna's grandfather even here? He's the one who gave us the address so we could get the money ourselves and suddenly he's here?

"What's going on?" I ask Anna and walk towards her, touching her arm, but Christian yanks her away.

"You stay away from my grandchild. This ends today, do you hear me?" Christian seethes. I raise my eyebrows, is he fucking threatening me? He has a lot of nerve, showing up here with Antonio and then talking bullshit.

"He's no good for you," Christian says again, making me furious, "leave and don't look back, Anna. This is your last chance, things aren't going to look pretty." What the fuck is he talking about? I swear, this trip is getting fucking weird.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Anna says, stepping next to me. I let out a sigh of relief and wrap my hand around hers, trying to let her know it's going to be okay. Even though Antonio will probably fight us. I'm not stupid, he didn't come here with his backup for no reason and I saw the gun in his pants the second he bent down.

"Things aren't going to look pretty," Christian repeats the damn same sentence and takes a step forward, "leave and don't look back. Don't come looking for them or for me. Just go. Now." I sense that Anna's hesitating and I stare at her, my heart dropping. If she leaves, I'll have nothing to live for anymore. Jessica's already gone and Anna will be too. I didn't have a chance to have a last conversation or even a last hug with Jessica and I won't be able to live if that also happens with Anna. Love. I need to tell her I love her. Because I do, right? I was gonna tell her in the basement earlier, but the scream distracted me. She won't leave if I tell her I love her.

"You may have given up your whole life for the mafia, but we went through hell too," Anna snaps at her grandfather and I squeeze her hand. "Just tell me what you're doing here!"

"I'm getting rid of him, because I know you can't and won't," Christian raises his voice and Antonio walks towards us with curious eyes. "You told me you would leave after Antonio got his money. He got it, so you can leave now."

[ Anna's POV ]

"That was before I realized that I love him!" I yell back, not realizing how big of an impact the sentence holds.

"Don't be foolish, Anna," Antonio chuckles. "He's only around cause he needed you for his task and now you're off-duty. You're not needed anymore."

"That's not true, you're just saying this so I won't be making the same mistakes as you," I fire at grandpa, ignoring what Antonio just said. He may be right, though. I never doubted Chris, but he has been acting very nice and a little suspicious after I found out about his life. Did I just mess up everything by saying the l-word?

"No, he's not. He was saying it cause he doesn't want me to kill you," Antonio grins and before I know what's going on, the big guy stands behind me, with his hands around my neck. For someone his size, he surely is quick.
