[ Anna's POV ]

"So... Have you spoken to Chris yet?" Ella asks me as we're walking to school. It's Monday again and let's just say that the newfound information about dad brought Ella and me closer. Like a lot closer. We were actually getting along, which is weird for us. The last time we were close, it got destroyed by Jason.

I forgot to call Chris Friday, but his mom came by and dropped off my bag, saying he was 'busy'.

"Nope, he didn't care to call, text or come by this weekend," I sigh and twirl a strand of hair, smoothing out my pants. Since I've met Chris, I've changed a lot. I used to not care about what I wore, looked like or sounded like, but I'm really aware of those things now. I decided to go with a black jumpsuit, pairing it with silver sandals and lots of bracelets, to cheer up my outfit.

I'm not that kind of girl who waits for her boyfriend to text or call her first, but I felt ignored. I hope he has a good explanation today.

"You know, Jessica was acting so weird on Friday, something's definitely off. Do you think he knows? About dad and his mom?" Ella asks me and I inhale sharply. I hope he doesn't, this could seriously damage our relationship. But of course his mom told him, they're moving in tomorrow for God's sake.

"Or we can just ask them," Ella points ahead of us, where Chris and Jessica are coming out of his car. When Chris looks up, I quickly scan his face. The bruises are gone.

"Hey Chris, I...!" I start to yell, but he turns around and walks off, dragging Jessica with him.

"What the hell?" Ella screams at him and pulls me by my arm. "Let's go you slow ass! We have a guy to catch!"

"El! Come on! My shirt is gonna rip apart!" I whine. I share this  jumpsuit share with Ella, so she quickly lets go of my clothes and pulls by my hand, until we reach Chris' locker, where he's standing in front of. "Good luck," Ella smiles at me and walks away, probably looking for Jessica.

Chris is wearing a white shirt, paired with jeans, which have holes in them and a leatherjacket. I also notice that a snapback is covering his hair. I've never seen him wear a leatherjacket or a snapback, so this is new.

"So you disappear in the weekend and come back as a bad boy?" I mock his new style. I see all the girls in the hallway staring at Chris, hear them whisper about how good he looks and honestly, it irritates me. Yes, I know he's the school's new, hot guy, but can they try to cool it down when I'm three feet away from them?

"Just trying something new," he answers and exhales, not looking at me as he talks.

"So your mom told me about it?" I ask him, scared for his reaction. I'm already mad at him and this isn't helping. "Why are you acting so distant?"

He sighs loudly before slamming his locker shut. "We're fucking moving in your house. Our parents are dating, for God's sake! Are you satisfied with that answer or should I write a fucking essay about it?" he swears.

I hold my schoolbag a little tighter and turn around, ready to walk off. If he doesn't want to talk and act childish, fine then, but I'm not letting him ruin my mood. As I turn around, I hear him sighing again and a split second later, I feel him pulling me back by my arm.

"I'm sorry, babe," he mutters. I smile, he calls me 'babe' most of the time, but my heart flutters every time he says it. "It's just... I'm still trying to process it, y'know?" I scan his face, he has bags under his eyes and I start to wonder if he has even slept at all.

"I understand," I say, while grabbing his face in my hands, "You look so tired though."

He chuckles. "Yeah, sleep is for the weak." He puts his head in the crook of my neck and his arms around my waist. I hug him back and sniff his scent. He always smells so good, it's like he just walked out of a TV commercial for men's cologne.

---

"Everybody put away those cellphones!" Mrs Blanchard yells. She's one of my favorite teachers, an old French lady. She's old fashioned, but really sweet and caring.

I look up when someone sits down next to me, it's Jane. I texted her Friday, but she didn't bother to text me back. She's probably still pissed at me for ignoring her for a whole week. I didn't try to call or text Tiffany, knowing her, it takes ages for her to forgive me.

"Hey," I smile at Jane, but she looks at me with that stupid arrogant look she has and puts on a fake smile. "You're finally talking to me? Done ignoring me now?"

"I just had a lot going on with my parents, I'm sorry. And I texted you Friday!" I smile apologetically. Jane's one of my few friends and I don't want to fight with her.

"Miss Greenfield!" I hear Mrs. Blanchard yelling. Shit. I turn my head and mutter a quick apology. She's a nice teacher, I have to be on good terms with her. She shakes her head and continues to talk in French.

"I forgive you because you always forgive me when I'm being stupid," Jane sighs from beside me. "But I'm still mad at you. You can make it up by hanging out after school?"

I look at her and laugh. "Of course, there's something I need to tell you anyway."
