[ Anna's POV ]
"Anna? Come down here!" I hear someone yelling from downstairs, it's probably Ella, so I just ignore her.
I go by the name Anna Greenfield, I'm 18 years old and I'm currently putting on some lipstick, which I almost never do. Oh, and that annoying voice is my one year younger sister Ella.
I'm a senior and graduation is one month away, which I couldn't be more happier about, since I'll finally have a reason to move out. Home hasn't been the happiest place for a few months, cause mom and dad have been avoiding each other for a while and Ella has been getting on my nerves, since two of her closets friends moved to another state.
"Why aren't you answering me?" Ella comes barging in my room. Great, the lipstick I wanted to apply falls on my desk.
"Geez, what do you need?" I ask her, while rolling my eyes. I tend to do that a lot, or so my friends say. Not like I have a big group of friends. I have three close friends and I don't really feel like making new friends.
Jane is the most outgoing girl I've ever known and she parties with tons of other people, but she goes to me to talk about her personal stuff. Tiffany is the typical nerd, with her huge glasses and innocent curls. She's always making sure Jane's plans don't get too crazy. Chanel is the school's sweetheart, liked by everyone and envied by a lot of girls. All the boys go after her, but she's never had a boyfriend. Her dad got sent to Europe for work, so she had to move away for a while, but she told us she would be back for graduation and prom. Not like I'm going to one of those. I don't really care for events like that.
"Mom's out again and I need you to make me dinner," Ella says while scanning my body. "Why are you dressed like that?"
"Believe it or not, but I'm going to a party," I shrug. It isn't the first time that mom is out on a Friday night and it's probably for her work again. She has been buried in her work lately, avoiding dad and her responsibilities at all costs.
Ella looks at me with wide eyes, since I'm not really the type to go to a party. I like being alone and listening to music way more than going to a stupid party where all they do is get drunk. But you need to step out of your comfort zone once in a while.
"Yeah, I'm almost on summerbreak and can't I have a little fun? You can order pizza, but don't count me in, it's gonna be late," I say while putting on the highest heels that I own.
"Who are you dressing up for?" she smirks and ignores what I said.
I chuckle sarcastically. "Uh... nobody." I stand straight and look at myself in the mirror. I look pretty amazing may I say. "It's not your business anyways."
"Honey, if you don't tell me, I'm going to tell mom that you're going to a party without even telling her," she sits on my bed. Ugh, little sisters are so annoying. If I could sell her, I probably would. I scoff and glare at her. Like she's an angel. She's a year younger than me and acts all sweet, but she's the devil in disguise.
"Okay go ahead and tell her, sweetheart. I will tell her that you used her money to go to that movie, without telling her. You're seventeen for God's sake, act like it," I take a final look in the mirror and hear the doorbell ring. "Oh, that's probably Jane. I'll see you later El. Don't do drugs and don't open the door for strangers," I walk out the door without even looking in her direction. As I walk down the stairs, I can practically hear her stomp in my room. I roll my eyes at her childishness and grab my phone from the couch in the living room.
The doorbell rings again and I hurry to the door in my heels.
"Girl, took you long enough! Let's go now!" Jane shouts impatiently, while jumping up and down on my porch. She grabs my arm and drags me off the stairs. Not convenient with high heels, I'll never know how she does it every day.
Ella comes to the door and folds her arms. "I hope you two have fun," she says with the most sarcastic voice I've ever heard and slams the door shut. Jane starts laughing and flips her off, but she's already gone.
It's not dark outside yet, thanks to summer and the long days, I think to myself. But Jane disturbs my thoughts with her hyped voice. "Anna, this is going to be the best party of this year! I mean, Jason's like the richest boy in school! How did we even get invited after all that shit from last year?!" She widens her eyes at me, knowing that it's an awkward topic for me.
"He probably invited everyone, it's no big deal," I shrug, trying to hide my excitement. Jason and I dated a few months ago and I've been trying to cover up the feelings that I still have. I mean, cliché right? Hot, popular guy dates an awkward, weird girl. He cheats on her with a prettier girl and she's heartbroken. I stopped pitying myself after a few weeks, while he kept trying to apologize, but I didn't want to listen. Now he's moved on, while I'm trying to get his attention at a party. Oh, how the roles have changed.
Jane narrows her eyes at me while I lower myself into her car. "I know you still like him, why don't you just admit it An."
"I don't like him anymore, Jane," I try to keep a straight face but we both burst out laughing.
