[ Chris' POV ]

I let out an annoyed sigh after Anna closes the door behind her and brushing a hand through my hair, locking my jaw. How could I be so stupid? Of course she had a crush on him, he's the most popular guy at school. I knew something was off the first time I mentioned him. The way she glanced at him in hallways, the way she started acting nervous when he was around or how she blushes every time he talks to her in class.

"Fuck!" I scream, repeatedly hitting my fists against the wheel. Now I have to keep her away from that guy, on top of being the perfect boyfriend, all for Bernardo's sake. I start the car and drive off, just as my phone goes off.

"Hey, bro. How's it going?" Sammy greets me through the phone.

"Not good. Anna's got something going on for Jessica's boytoy," I look in the rearview mirror.

"Your sister's? What the fuck," Sammy laughs and continues. "Just stick to our plan, Prince Charming."

"Fuck off," I growl and roll my eyes at his comment. "The girl's annoying the hell out of me, how long do I have to be in Brooklyn?"

"We agreed till she graduates and if you don't have the address to her family's hideout, you can stay forever," Sammy half-jokes and says goodbye, hanging up.

I knew what I was in for when I agreed to help the guys in LA, but isn't being around Anna 24/7 enough? And now I have to keep Jason away from her.  Isn't this just fantastic?

[ Anna's POV ]

"I want to know how long I have to be here. I have places to be," Ella says, not looking up from her phone.

"Excuse me?" mom raises her eyebrows. " I want you to take your eyes off your phone and act like you actually want to talk to us.  She puts her hands in her hair and lets out a frustrated sigh.

Ella looks up with a bored look.  "I actually don't want to talk, but yeah. I'll put it away, it only has ten percent left and I have to go to a friend's house later."

"No, you're staying here today," dad states and crosses his arms.

"No! I promised Jessica that I'd help her pick her outfit for her date tonight. I can't just cancel this," Ella complains. My head shoots up and I narrow my eyes. "Jessica? As in Jessica Collins?" I ask.

"Yep, that new girl at school. And have you seen her penthouse? It's huge! But you obviously know her, since she's dating Jason," Ella grins, taunting me and flips her hair. Since when are these two friends?

"Anna obviously has seen it. She spent the whole week there with her lovely boyfriend, didn't she?" Well, it seems like dad is just as annoyed as me today.

"Someone's a little tense," I smile sarcastically and cross my arms, mirroring him.

Mom sighs. "I know your relationship hasn't always been the best, but aren't you getting tired from bickering back and forth? I will be staying in Manhattan for a while, so be nice to him, Anna." I roll my eyes at her comment and muster a smile.

"Can we please start talking, I've gotta go," Ella complains again. Dad looks at mom and raises his eyebrows.

"Your mom and I decided to take a break a while ago," dad starts. "At that time, I had to go on several trips for my job. And I kind of... ehm." He coughs and pauses.

"You kind of met someone," mom finishes his sentence, glaring at him. "He found another woman who, apparently, can make him more happy than I can."

"I never said that," dad defends himself. "She's just... We spent a little too much time together."

"Oh, and that's why she's moving in, right?" mom chuckles with no humor. "Just because you two spent so much time together, she can just move into my house, sleep in my bed and use my kitchen. Of course!"

"Wow, they have a lot of unsolved shit ," Ella whispers to me and I nod slowly. Who's this mysterious woman my dad is seeing?

"Do you really want to do this now, Denise?" dad's low voice booms through our kitchen and he's fuming. I look at mom, she's sitting there with flushed cheeks while probably saying every curse word she knows, in her head.

"Let's all calm down," I say, hoping to calm both of them down.

"Don't be too happy, she's your boyfriend's mom," mom sneers at me as the tears stream down her face. She gets up and storms out of the kitchen, slamming the door behind her.

Boyfriend's mom? Chris' mom? What the frick is going on? The room starts spinning and I grip the table, trying to make some sense out of this.

"She's acting like a child," dad mutters, more to himself than to us.

"You can't blame her, you're letting some woman move in with us and you kicked her out. You practically signed the divorce paper and then gave it to her. I'd act the same if it was me," Ella defends mom and looks at me with a worried expression. "Are you alright, An?"

"I did what I had to do," he shrugs and ignores my shocked face. He's acting like all of this doesn't bother him.

"My boyfriend's mom, dad? His mom?" I yell at him and stand up from my chair. "I knew you didn't like it that I've been staying at his house, but really? His mom? This is low." I storm out, just like mom and lean against the wall, listening to the conversation in the kitchen, trying to calm myself down.

"So... when is she moving in?" I hear Ella ask dad and I gulp, putting my face in my hands.

"Next tuesday," dad says and I hear his chair against the floor. This is my cue to leave. I scramble up and run through the living room, up the stairs.

A few minutes later, my door opens slightly, Ella's facing popping in view. "Hey... can I come in?" she smiles nervously and steps in. "I have ice cream?"

I grin at her attempt to cheer me up and hug her. I need my sister now, more than ever.

[ Chris' POV ]

"Chris? Dinner's ready!" mom shouts from the kitchen. It's rare that mom is ever home, let alone that she's making dinner.

"Is Jessica home?" I ask mom as I approach the table, three plates full of spaghetti on top of it.

"No, she has a date with... uhm, what was his name again?" mom pauses for a second. "Jason, yeah. He's taking her to a movie and then dinner." She giggles. "Sounds like a nice boy. Nothing like Jack, but she could've done worse."

"He's not what you think," I sigh. I met Jason today, by accident. I overslept, Anna had already left, to a weird sound. Turns out that Jessica and  Jason were having too much fun next door. It was awkward as hell and Jason and I fought later.

"There's something I want to tell you," mom says, suddenly turning serious. Oh shit. "I'd prefer Jessica being here, but I can tell her later. Uhm..." mom looks at me, fumbling with her fork. "I'm seeing someone." I let out a sigh of relief. "That's it? I thought you were gonna say that you're pregnant or something!" I start to laugh and bring my spoon to my mouth. "Can we eat now?"

"I'm moving in with him," mom drops the bomb and closes her eyes. "And you are too."

"Wait, what the hell? We just moved here?" I drop the spoon and gape at her.
