The days slipped by quickly, yet the months felt long. In a world without demons, the swordsmen now fell into a routine to shape their lives as best they could.
Tanjirou and Nezuko went home with their friends and started a new life together. They continued with the charcoal business and other odd jobs to make a living, despite Kiriya sending all of the members in the Corps enough money to live comfortably. Everyone felt the same way in that they wanted to continue to work hard in this world, however long or short it may be.
Kanao and Aoi inherited the Butterfly Estate, and everyone goes to see them at least once a month for health check-ups. The long battles against demons had left everyone with permanent scars and damage, but they do not complain. To be alive is a blessing.
Giyuu became a calligraphy teacher, helping to keep Japan's rich culture alive among young children. Even with only one hand, his strokes on paper flowed smoothly like a steady, calm stream. He finds himself being loved by everyone in town, old and young.
The Shinazugawa brothers finally got to experience life again by each other's side, working hard and feeling grateful every day. Sanemi reopened his dojo and accepted those with an earnest heart to learn swordsmanship. He was a strict teacher, but no one ever felt that he was too unreasonable. Genya, staying true to his promise to Musashi, worked tirelessly as an apprentice craftsman of mixed arms to earn money. He had an affinity for learning about new Western firearms, and could fix and craft them with precision. He keeps in contact with the swordsmiths and they frequently exchange tips.
Senjurou took up tea making with his father supporting his passion every step of the way. He hopes to one day run a tea shop, and despite not being good at swordsmanship, he vows to keep the family tradition alive as well. He takes lessons from both Shinjurou and Sanemi from time to time.
Tengen and his wives lived each day to the fullest. Today, they were at the hot springs and had invited Akiho to come along...
Warm mist rose lazily from the water around her. The heat was seeping into her muscles and caused her whole body to relax. It was almost springtime again, with the last snow melting away just a few days ago.
"We invited Giyuu too," Hinatsuru hummed, tilting her head back against the rock. "But he said he had to meet someone in town today."
Makio's eyes gleamed. "Oho? Like a secret lover!"
Suma immediately smacked the side of Makio's head, water splashing everywhere. "Don't spread baseless rumors!"
"Tengen-sama!" Makio immediately cried to the retired pillar to tattletale. "Did you see that?!"
"Huh?" At the far end of the pool, Tengen had his eye closed in utter bliss, head tilted back as if nothing in the world could disturb him. "No?"
