"...Aniki!" Genya's eyes were wide with disbelief at the man standing before him. "Why... How are you here...?"

"Quit yelling," Sanemi smirked with his arms crossed. "Come closer if you want to talk."

The white-haired man was wearing his demon slayer uniform unbuttoned and Genya could see the amount of scars he's accumulated throughout the years. The last time he saw his brother when they were kids and gotten attacked by their mother-turned-demon. Thinking back to that time, Genya felt guilty for blaming the man of killing their mother because he didn't know she had turned into a demon; it was the strain he put on their relationship that made it easier for Sanemi to leave for good.

"I-I have so much to say to you..." Genya took a step forward towards the man. "Aniki, I—"

Pause.

He hesitated when the man seemed to be receptive of him and even wanting him to come closer. He had to remember that he was in a temple currently taken over by a demon with blood technique, and he was with Akiho right before he was somehow transported to this other place with his brother.

"What's wrong, Genya? Thought you wanted to talk," the scarred man sneered coldly. "So you've become a demon slayer? Then don't just stand there like a fucking idiot 'cus that's what'll get you killed. Just like the time when mother nearly ripped your head off because you stood there frozen."

"I..."

"You still blame me for her death, don't you? That why you joined the Corps? To find me and remind me of that?"

"No!" Genya gritted his teeth and looked at his brother sincerely. "I wanted to tell you how sorry I am!"

"Then," he mused and reached out a scarred hand. "Let's make up, little brother."

"'Nemi..."

It was so tempting, the thought of them being brothers again and not have this strife building a wall between them. But despite his senses becoming dull after coming into this room and emotions filling his body in a blissful way, he knew something wasn't right here. He had dreamed of making up with his brother and becoming accepted again, but Sanemi had pushed him away and declared to never want anything to do with him. This person before him could only be a figment of his imagination.

I'm sorry, 'Nemi. I promise to apologize to you once I actually find you! Genya reached into his yukata and pulled out his gun. The metal trigger clicked as a bullet shot out right at the man's chest. "Begone, poser!"

The figure of his brother stumbled backward with a hiss before it disappeared completely, effectively breaking the spell that he was trapped in and he found himself back in the chamber with the demon who was just about to tear the dazed Akiho apart.
