Morning sunlight spilled through the large window with coral red curtains patterned with white mountains and rolling fog behind them. The streets of this little residential neighborhood was just starting to wake with the early morning bustle...

Shinazugawa Hinoka rolled to the other side of her bed to avoid the brightness. She had the day off from her university classes as a third-year student and planned to spend the morning sleeping in, then meeting her best friend at a new sweets cafe around lunchtime.

But a knock came through her door as her mom peeked into the room with a small request.

"Hinoka, could you help the neighbor bring the twins to kindergarten today? She has an emergency situation that needs to be dealt with this morning."

Pretty golden eyes pried open with some effort. Hinoka gave her mom a sleepy nod in agreement and the woman chuckled behind her hand at the faint pillow marks that were pressed against her right cheek where a tiny, pinkish four-petaled flower birthmark sat under her right eye.

"It's eight so you have an hour!" she announced before leaving.

Hinoka yawned and stretched. Getting ready fairly quickly, she ended with brushing her black hair into a quick, messy bun before pulling a baseball cap over her head to contain the bed hair. It'll have to do for now!

Walking outside to the house next door, she was immediately greeted by the twin's mom looking extremely grateful for the help.

"Thank you so much, Hinoka," she said. "My husband forgot an important work file at home so I have to drop it off..."

"It's no worries, Tokito-san! I've heard somewhere that helping others can end up helping yourself."

"Ah! My husband says the same."

Seconds later, excited footsteps stomped down the hallway to the entrance of the house.

"Hinoka!!"

Two small blurs burst from the open door—five year old Muichirou and Yuichirou, who were identical down to the minty eyes and mop of black hair. Muichirou reached her first and launched himself into her legs and held on like a baby koala.
