The bell above the café door jingled, a familiar sound that made your heart do that stupid flip it always did at exactly 5:13 pm

He was here. Again.

Peter Parker. The junior with messy brown hair, tired eyes, and a hoodie so basic it had your brain rewriting the dictionary definition of "boy-next-door crush."

You were behind the counter, pretending to wipe down the same spot on the espresso machine like it hadn’t been spotless for the past ten minutes. Peter approached the counter like he always did—quiet, polite, oblivious to the way your breath hitched just slightly whenever he looked up.

“One iced coffee, please. Two sugars,” he said, voice soft but clear.

You nodded, trying to keep your cool, even as your brain screamed, That’s his voice. He’s using his voice on you. Breathe.

“C-Coming right up,” you managed to say, voice only cracking a little.

He stood there scrolling on his phone while you made his drink, fingers drumming on the counter in a rhythm that had started to feel familiar. He always tapped when he waited. You’d memorized that.

You handed him the coffee. Your fingers brushed slightly, and if this was a rom-com, time would’ve frozen. Instead, he just gave a polite nod, paid and smiled.

“Have a nice day,” he said.

You would’ve melted on the spot if you weren’t too busy replaying that smile like it was the main character of your dreams.

“You too,” you whispered to no one, watching him leave.

That two-minute interaction? That was the highlight of your day. Every. Single. Day.

Next day - School Cafeteria

"Okay, this is getting ridiculous," Jena said, stabbing a fork into her salad like it personally offended her. "You serve him coffee every day. That’s, like, more emotional intimacy than half of high school relationships."

Rachel leaned in dramatically. "You’re basically married at this point."

"Stop," you groaned, covering your face. "He probably doesn’t even know my name. I’m just the girl who fuels his caffeine addiction."

"Which gives you leverage," Jena whispered, eyes wild. "Use it. Weaponize the barista crush."

You laughed nervously, then sighed. "Okay, fine. I’ll do it. I’ll talk to him today."

Both your friends froze. "Wait. Seriously?"

"I mean—yeah. Why not? I’m tired of just... watching him exist."

Rachel grinned like the proudest soccer mom. "Our girl’s about to score."

Peter was sitting with Ned and MJ, deep in conversation with Ned about something science-y, probably. MJ was nose-deep in a book, looking like she’d rather be anywhere else.
