The faint glow of your bedside lamp illuminated the room, casting a warm, golden hue across the sheets. The air was quiet, save for the occasional hum of traffic outside your window and the soft rustle of pages as you flipped through the book in your hands. You were lost in the world of words, lying on your stomach, clad in a silky black nightdress that hugged your frame. Your hair was loosely tied up, exposing the nape of your neck, and you absentmindedly bit your lip, engrossed in the story.
Beside you, Peter Parker lay sprawled on his side, head propped up on one hand. He was watching you. No, more like studying you. His brown eyes held a mix of adoration and mischief, flickering between the curve of your back and the serene concentration on your face.
"Y/n," he said softly, dragging out your name.
"Mm-hmm?" you murmured without looking up.
He sighed dramatically. "What's so interesting about that book? I'm right here, you know."
You grinned but kept your eyes on the page. "Peter, you're always here. This book, however, is new and exciting."
Peter gasped, clutching his chest in mock offense. "Excuse me? Are you saying I'm boring?"
"Not boring," you teased, still refusing to look at him. "Just... predictable."
"Predictable?" he repeated, feigning outrage. "I'll show you predictable."
You suddenly felt his fingers gently brush against your back. He traced the thin strap of your nightdress with a featherlight touch, sending a shiver down your spine. You let out a soft, involuntary gasp but kept your focus on the book, determined not to give him the satisfaction of your attention.
"Peter..." you warned, though your voice lacked conviction.
He chuckled, his warm breath tickling your ear as he leaned closer. "What? I'm just lying here, being boring and predictable, remember?"
You tried to ignore him, your eyes skimming over the lines of text, but the words blurred together as his fingers danced across your skin. He started tracing random patterns on your back-circles, stars, hearts-all while humming softly to himself.
"Stop it," you mumbled, biting back a smile.
"Stop what?" he asked innocently, pressing a quick kiss to your shoulder blade.
You finally turned your head to glare at him, though the amusement in your eyes betrayed you. "I'm trying to read, Peter."
"And I'm trying to remind you that your boyfriend exists," he countered with a cheeky grin.
You rolled your eyes and turned back to your book. But Peter wasn't done. He shifted closer, his lips now trailing lazy kisses along your spine. Each one was soft, warm, and lingering, leaving a trail of heat in their wake.
"Peter," you said again, your voice breathier this time.
"Hmm?" he replied, not stopping. His hands rested on either side of your waist, his thumbs brushing small circles against your skin. "Just keep reading. Pretend I'm not here."
"That's impossible," you muttered, your resolve weakening.
He chuckled against your skin. "Good. Then my plan is working."
You closed your book with a sigh, placing it on the nightstand. Rolling onto your side to face him, you narrowed your eyes. "You're relentless, you know that?"
Peter smirked, his curls falling into his face. "Relentless? I prefer devoted."
You playfully shoved his chest. "Devoted to being a distraction, maybe."
"Only because I love you," he said, his tone suddenly soft and sincere. His eyes met yours, and the teasing glint was replaced with pure adoration.
Your heart melted, and you couldn't help but smile. "You're lucky you're cute."
"I know," he replied smugly, pulling you closer until your noses almost touched. "Now, how about you tell me what happens in that book of yours?"
You raised an eyebrow. "You want me to spoil it for you?"
"Well, I wasn't going to read it anyway," he admitted with a shrug.
You laughed, the sound light and melodic, and Peter felt his chest swell with happiness. "Fine," you said, settling into his arms. "But only if you promise to let me finish it tomorrow."
Peter pressed a kiss to your forehead, his lips lingering there for a moment. "Deal. But tonight, you're all mine."
