You sat in the sterile white room, legs swinging slightly from the examination table as you adjusted the loose sweater covering your post-baby belly. Peter, ever the ball of nervous energy, was pacing back and forth, fiddling with random things on the counter.
“Babe, sit down,” you said with a small laugh. “You’re making me dizzy.”
“I can’t! What if the doctor says something’s wrong? What if you need more time to recover?” He turned to you with wide, worried eyes. “What if—”
“Peter,” you interrupted, reaching out to grab his wrist and pull him closer. “I feel fine. It’s just a routine checkup. Relax.”
He huffed but let you tug him beside you. “I know, I know. It’s just… I want everything to be perfect for you. And for us. And for, you know—” He gestured vaguely, cheeks tinged pink.
You raised an eyebrow, smirking. “For what, Peter?”
“For… things!” He whispered, glancing at the closed door like someone might hear him.
Before you could tease him further, the door creaked open, and Dr. Callahan walked in, clipboard in hand and a kind smile on her face.
“Hello, Y/N! Peter,” she greeted, settling onto her stool. “How are we feeling today?”
“Good,” you said, smiling back. “Tired, but good.”
Peter nodded enthusiastically. “She’s amazing. Like, superwoman amazing. But, uh, we’re here to make sure everything’s… healed? And good? And…” He trailed off, scratching the back of his neck.
Dr. Callahan chuckled, flipping through your chart. “Well, let’s take a look and see how everything’s progressing.”
The next few minutes were filled with the usual checks, and Peter held your hand tightly, alternating between giving you reassuring smiles and biting his lip nervously.
Finally, the doctor sat back with a pleased nod. “Everything looks great. Your body’s healing beautifully, and you’re clear to resume normal activities.”
You smiled in relief. “That’s great to hear, thank you.”
But before you could say anything else, Peter blurted out, “Wait—what about sex?”
Your head snapped toward him so fast you thought you might get whiplash. “Peter!”
“What?” He said, looking at you with genuine confusion, his cheeks flaming red. “It’s a valid question!”
Dr. Callahan raised an amused eyebrow but kept her professional tone. “Yes, that includes intercourse. As long as Y/N feels ready and comfortable, there’s no medical reason to avoid it.”
Peter let out a dramatic sigh of relief, slumping back in his chair. “Oh, thank God.”
You groaned, burying your face in your hands. “I can’t believe you just asked that.”
“Why not? I mean, it’s important! You’re my wife, and I—” He leaned closer, lowering his voice, “—I’ve missed you.”
Your cheeks burned as you peeked through your fingers. “Peter…”
Dr. Callahan stood, clearly fighting a smile. “I’ll leave you two to discuss your… plans. Don’t forget to stop by the front desk to schedule your next appointment.”
“Thank you,” you mumbled, avoiding eye contact as she left the room.
The moment the door clicked shut, Peter spun to you, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “So… tonight?”
You stared at him, incredulous. “Peter, I just got cleared five seconds ago.”
“Exactly!” He said, grinning. “That’s five seconds too long!”
You couldn’t help but laugh, shaking your head. “You’re so impatient.”
“I’m in love,” he countered, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into a gentle hug. “And I missed being close to you, that’s all.”
His words melted your irritation, and you rested your forehead against his chest. “You’re such a dork.”
“Your dork,” he said smugly, pressing a kiss to your hair. Then he leaned back, his tone turning playful. “Soooo… should I book a babysitter for tonight, or—”
“Peter!”
“What?!”
You smacked his chest lightly, unable to hide your grin. "You're impossible."
"I'm efficient," he shot back with a cheeky smile, pulling you closer as he swayed side to side like you were slow-dancing. "And come on, don't tell me you didn't miss me too."
You rolled your eyes but felt your cheeks warm at how boyishly excited he looked. "Peter, I've been busy. You know, keeping our tiny human alive?"
"I know, I know." He nodded solemnly, then his face broke into a mischievous grin. "But Ben's fine. He's thriving! Which means we can take a little... us time now, right?"
You gave him a pointed look. "You're ridiculous."
"Ridiculously in love with you," he said with a dramatic flourish. "And you heard the doctor! She literally said it's okay! Doctor's orders!"
"Doctor's orders? Really?"
"Yup!" He grinned wider, leaning closer. "You wouldn't want to go against medical advice, would you?"
You burst out laughing, pushing him away gently. "You’re so lucky you’re cute."
He gasped, pressing a hand to his chest like you’d wounded him. "Lucky? Babe, I’m a catch."
"Are you now?" You teased, crossing your arms.
"Absolutely," he said, puffing out his chest like he was auditioning to be Captain America. "Look at me—devoted husband, loving father, Spider-Man. And tonight, I could be your—"
"Finish that sentence and I’m locking you out of the bedroom," you interrupted, laughing so hard your stomach hurt.
Peter pouted, his lip jutting out dramatically. "You’re so mean to me."
"Mean? Peter, you just asked a doctor if we could have sex. I think I’m being very forgiving right now."
"But it was a valid question!" He argued, throwing his hands in the air. "And look how smoothly it worked out! I’m basically a hero for getting clarity on that situation."
"Oh, sure," you said, rolling your eyes. "Hero of Awkward Doctor Visits."
He grinned, grabbing your hand and pulling you off the examination table. "That’s fine by me. As long as I’m your hero."
You groaned at his cheesiness but let him lace his fingers with yours. "You’re such a child."
"And you love it," he said smugly, leaning down to kiss your forehead.
You sighed, shaking your head but smiling. "Unfortunately."
As you both walked out of the doctor’s office, Peter leaned in, whispering in your ear with a grin: "Sooo... babysitter?"
You shot him a look. "Peter, you’re on diaper duty for the next three weeks."
"Deal," he said immediately, his enthusiasm unshaken. "Totally worth it."
You laughed, wondering how you ever got so lucky to be stuck with this adorable, excitable dork for life.
