Valentine’s Day. A day meant for love, romance, and spending time with the person who makes your heart race. This was your first Valentine’s Day in a relationship, and to say you were excited would be an understatement. You had spent days thinking about what to wear, what to gift Peter, and what he might have planned for you.
Peter Parker—your sweet, nerdy, ridiculously adorable boyfriend—had a way of making even the smallest gestures feel special. But he was also Spider-Man. And sometimes, being Spider-Man meant he had to put the city before you.
But today? Today, you really hoped you’d come first.

The day started off on a sweet note.
Right before first period, Peter found you at your locker, looking extra nervous but adorable as ever. He had a shy smile on his lips, one hand rubbing the back of his neck as he held something behind his back.
“Hey, beautiful,” he greeted, leaning in for a quick peck on your cheek.
“Hey, handsome,” you grinned, shutting your locker and turning to face him. “What’s up?”
Peter bit his lip before pulling out three red roses and a small teddy bear from behind his back.
“For you,” he said, his cheeks dusted pink.
Your heart melted on the spot. “Peter,” you gasped, taking the roses and inhaling their sweet scent. “They’re beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you,” he murmured, pressing another kiss to your temple.
You giggled, your stomach doing somersaults. “And the teddy bear?”
Peter shrugged, a little sheepish. “I know you like cute things. Thought you could keep it on your nightstand or something.”
You beamed, hugging the tiny plush against your chest. “I love it. Thank you.”
Peter looked relieved, his whole body relaxing. “I was nervous you wouldn’t like it.”
You scoffed. “Peter, you could’ve given me a rock and I’d still love it if it was from you.”
“Noted,” he chuckled. “I’ll get you a rock next year.”
You rolled your eyes playfully before reaching into your bag. “Well, I got you something too.”
Peter perked up instantly, eyes lighting up as you handed him a small, neatly wrapped package. He wasted no time tearing it open, revealing a packet of gummy bears and a folded letter.
His face lit up. “No way! You remembered my favorite gummies?”
“Of course, I did,” you said. “And open the letter later, okay?”
Peter nodded, tucking it safely into his pocket. “I will. Thank you, lovebug.”
The warmth in your chest grew at the nickname. Today was off to a perfect start.
Or so you thought.

At lunch, you sat beside Peter in the cafeteria, playing with his fingers under the table. The topic of Valentine’s Day plans came up, and that’s when your excitement dimmed.
