The Avengers Compound rarely had quiet nights, so when Steve announced a mandatory “team bonding movie night,” it felt like a small blessing.

The common room was a sea of blankets, stolen pillows, mismatched mugs, and popcorn bowls big enough to drown in.

You were curled against Peter on the corner couch—your designated spot, the one everyone joked about was “reserved for the teenagers.” His arm was slung behind you on the cushions, fingers brushing your shoulder every few seconds like he couldn’t stop checking you were there. Cute. Endearing. A little pathetic. Perfect.

“Don’t fall asleep,” Peter whispered, nudging your knee with his.

“You literally fall asleep every time there’s a movie night.” You nudged back.

“Yeah, but your dad’s here. If I snore too loud he’ll disown me.”

“He can’t disown you. He hasn’t even adopted you.”

Peter opened his mouth to argue—shocker—but Wanda shushed everyone as the movie started. Lights dimmed. The chaos settled. For once, no threats, no missions, no training. Just… peace.

You shared a soda between you, passing it back and forth. Peter kept the popcorn in his lap, and you kept stealing the chocolate pieces he’d mixed in. He kept pretending not to see you do it.

Thirty minutes in, your eyelids got heavy.

The warmth of Peter’s hoodie didn’t help.

His heartbeat under your cheek definitely didn’t help.

You shifted, trying to keep your eyes open, but the second your head slipped off the backrest and landed against his shoulder again, you let out a soft sigh and sank into him.

Peter blinked slowly, head leaning back on the cushion behind him, eyes half-lidded but fighting it.

Nat glanced over, smirked, and elbowed Clint.

“The kids are out,” she whispered.
Clint grinned. “Lightweights.”

No one thought anything of it.

Two teens asleep during a movie. Completely normal.

Until it wasn’t.

ONE HOUR LATER

The credits rolled and Wanda stretched, cracking her fingers before she walked over to your couch.

“Come on, you two. Up. Go to bed,” she murmured, touching your shoulder lightly.

You didn’t move.

She frowned and shook you gently.

“Y/N?”

Nothing.

Her heartbeat skipped.

She turned to Peter, shaking his arm. “Peter?”

He didn’t budge. Not even a twitch.

“Tony…?” Wanda called, voice tightening.

Tony looked up from his mug. “What? They’re sleeping. Wake ’em up.”
