I prized my head off the window and groaned loudly, Wow my head hurt. I stretched out my legs and arms as I yawned.

“Someone’s awake” I heard the joy in Kim’s voices as she addressed

“Hmm . .”  I moaned.

“Good sleep?” She asked me while giving my knee a gentle squeeze

“I feel very achy, How long have I been asleep” I said as I looked at her

“Well we just passed the angel of the north and you feel asleep before we even got to the motorway….so I’d say a good 5 hours” She laughed

“What, Seriously?” I asked shocked

“Yeah baby” She took her eyes off the road for a split second to give me a smile.

“Kim, You should of woke me . . . I cant believe I’ve been out that long, I’m sorry” I placed my hand on hers on the gear stick for a few seconds before removing it in cases she needed to change gear

“Babe don’t be daft, I know you’ve not been sleeping well” She told me

“My sleep patterns are a bit of a mess” I agreed

“I know, Maybe you need to start going to sleep when you get in from the club instead of waiting up till I get off for school?” She told be seriously

“What? No. I like having breakfast with you” I said firmly

“Babe, Its not doing you any good” She said giving me a sad smile

“I don’t care, I’d get to spend even less time with you, Its not a option Kimberley” I told her

“Just think about it babe”

“I’ll sort it some how, But I’m not spending any less time with you” I told her

“You‘re cute” She smiled at me

“Maybe” I giggled

“How you feeling about everything else”

“Nervous, Maybe me falling asleep for the entire journey was for the best” I would of only been worrying myself sick for the last 5 hours if I’d of been awake.

“That’s what I thought”

“We’ve got over a  hour before the service can we go get a coffee or something before we get there? I don’t really want to be early”

“Sure” She smiled at me

I could feel my heart beating more rapidly with each passing second as my breakfast made its way back up my wind pipe. Beads of sweat appearing on my forehead.

The car tyres crunched against the gravel on the long steep driveway that lead to the crematorium.

As we neared the end of the gravel pathway the car park and crematorium came into view. I could make out many familiar faces from the past huddled around the crematorium entrance in tiny groups awaiting the arrival of the hurst.

“Stop here” I shouted out panicked as Kimberley was nearing the entrance.

Kimberley glanced at me quickly before pulling into a near by parking space away from the entrance.

She turned the cars ignition off and removed her seatbelt before turning to look at me with worried eyes.

She reached across and placed her hand on my thigh giving it a gentle squeeze.
