Hanging By A Moment (Sequel to Funhouse)

Chapter 28

I stretched my arm out over the crisp white sheets expecting my fingers to find Kimberley, all they found was emptiness.

I opened my eyes in alarm, She was no longer in the bed with me.

“Kim . . . . Kim” I called in panic

Nothing. 

I climbed out of the bed and walked the short way over to the bathroom, I pushed the door open hoping to find here in there, But she wasn’t.

I felt my heart pounding in my chest.

She couldn’t of just left me here alone, This couldn’t be happening again.

I looked at the digital time display on the plasma TV it read 14.22pm. 

I picked my mobile up from the table where I’d left it last night hoping to find a txt message from her.

The display showed 1 New message, I climbed back on to the bed and rested my head against the headboard as I opened it. I couldn’t help feeling waves of disappointment as I saw who it was from.

I closed the message and put my phone on the nightstand, That when I saw it.

A note scribbled out on the hotels complimentary writing pad in Kimberley’s distinctive handwriting.

Morning Gorgeous,

I’m really sorry that your waking up alone, I wanted to wake you (selfishly) but you looked so peaceful.

 It literally took all my strength to untangle myself from you this morning. 

I had the best 3 hours sleep of my life last night being in your arms.

Anyway ... Lol.

Its just turned 10 and I’ve gone back to the hospital to see dad, Don’t worry about getting up and checking out I’m going to add another night on to room.

So just chill out babe.

Txt me when you get up!

I read the note another 3 times with the biggest smile on my face before I picked my mobile back up and write her txt message.

<< Kimberley - You are so Lazy! I was getting worried when you didn’t txt. My dads doing great, they want him to stay in for a few more days and he might need surgery on his wrist but he’s doing REALLY good. Are you still curled up in bed? xx >>

<<Cheryl - That’s Great about your dad! Haha yes I’m still in bed, Seriously Kim this bed is so comfy. Are you still at the hospital? xox >>

<<Kimberley - Visiting hours finished at 2, But I have to do something before I come back and see you. I’ll try not to be late. Promise me you’ll still be there when I get back? xx >>

I couldn’t help feeling like there was something that Kimberley wasn’t telling me, I tried to put it to the back of my mind and decided to call room services.
