Welcome to a new chapter! The night is coming to a close after we move on from the introduction of Soba Mask and enter the 'death' of Komurasaki. As you readers know from the previous chapter, Uta is currently partaking in the banquet's festivities, but it will soon be interrupted once Wano's most beautiful figure slaps the Shogun and is thus sentenced to death. How will Uta's presence affect the way things play out? Will she stand up to fight or will she be forced to blend in with the crowd? Read to find out! I don't own One Piece.
Uta silently listens to Komurasaki playing the song 'Moon Princess' on her shamisen. The sight of the cherry blossom petals moving past her as she played was a sight to behold. Although the piece itself was beautiful and breathtaking, Uta couldn't help but take note of the sadness that felt heavy if anything.
"Yes, yes! That's the stuff!" Orochi said enthusiastically. "Now this is beautiful! I love it!"
The audience all stared at Komurasaki, amazed with her musical talents on the shamisen. Uta then heard some people talking about her mask which did make her a bit curious on its purpose, but she had a hunch on what it was for if her intuitions are correct. Uta then sensed something from further down the manor that caught her attention.
I sense some pretty strong people down from where Robin went. Uta thought, trying not to show too much interest in the things around her. Whoever it was, they managed to get past my observation haki. Could it be ninjas?
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Kyoshiro asks snapping Uta out of her thoughts. "It's called Moon Princess, a piece she worked on since she was a child."
"Is that so?" Uta asks as she sips her tea. "It's a beautiful tune for sure."
"As a musician yourself, what do you think of it?" Kyoshiro asks as he sips some of his sake. "I would love to hear the feedback of a foreigner."
"I can hear it clearly." Uta said softly, barely audible to Kyoshiro. "I can hear all the hard work that came into this song, but I can hear something else too. I hear the sadness and suffering."
Kyoshiro looked at her in shock, which made Uta regret her choice of words.
"I...I'm sorry if my words offended you!" Uta said, embarrassed for what she said. "I spoke out of line! I didn't mean..."
Uta then drifts off from what she said as Kyoshiro's face turned mellow. Almost as if he was silently agreeing with what Uta said.
"What sort of musician are you to see through even the Oiran herself?" Kyoshiro asked Uta, chuckling to himself. "It seems like I underestimated your talents."
"So it wasn't my imagination then." Uta said softly. "Just what sort of burden is the Oiran holding?"
Before the two could continue their conversation, Komurasaki ended her performance and the audience applauded for a wonderful performance. Komurasaki takes off her mask and bows, thanking the audience for the kind gesture. She then looked towards Uta's direction and smiled at them. Uta watches nervously as the Oiran stands up and walks over to them.
"Hello, Boss." Komurasaki said greeting Kyoshiro and then looking over to Uta which gave her a slight sense of uneasiness. "Is this the woman Pitch entrusted her life with?"
She never planned to talk to Komurasaki directly and meeting her is quite a big deal for Uta. It was almost like the time she had to talk to Abell's mentor, Captain Wacke, and explain to him Abell wasn't working for him anymore. Just like then, the situation became quite nerve wrecking for her.
"You're making it sound like I'm married to her or something, but jokes aside I'm very lucky to have her as a friend." Uta said standing up to properly greet Komurasaki. "I'm sorry that I haven't introduced myself to you yet. My name is Uta. I'm a good friend of Pitch and her Captain."
