palette of us

honey-gold warmth was what i felt,

when my thoughts rendered me blush pink,

our silence, pearl coloured ivory,

settling into my azure blue sky.

look at us, lingering like lavender on linen,

speaking, and loving, in sunset orange,

your very presence, moon-silver,

and for an ashen rose fortnight,

there we were, in dusky mauve,

spilling crimson wine,

copper lipstick stains on the rims,

until the midnight teal

revealed our starlight pearl.

oh, aren't we opaline?

shimmering aurora green,

the garnet blazing,

in a rain-soaked winter,

that's us: sea-glass green

in foggy grey.

ivory-gold, and incense brown,

i wish this chalice silver

never leaves me, in murky black.

faded lilac, or candled amber,

let the world cast its spell,

the colours will keep us alive.
