Thursday October 9
I purposely enter the school just a few minutes before the bell rings so I wouldn't have to talk to Ashton about what I overheard last night. I've received dozens of texts from him this morning telling me to hurry the hell up and get to school which only made me want to arrive later. I enter the classroom just a couple of seconds before the bell rang and Luke waves at me thinking I had no clue about how he felt about me.
"Mornin' Hailey" he smiles at me. Now that I think about it, he has a really cute smile.
"Hey Luke" I say and smile back.
"I texted you last night"
"Oh right" I received his text. I was just too shocked about the events of last night to reply back. "I opened your text right when I was about to go to sleep, so I was going to reply to you this morning but I forgot" I bit the inside of my lip.
"Oh that's alright I was just bored"
Thank god he believed that lie. If I had one skill that I'm actually good and proud at, it's making up lies and excuses right on the spot without hesitating or stuttering.
"Well you could've just talked to Ashton"
"I did but then he went downstairs to go play the drums, he looked so freaked out for some reason"
That must've been when I texted him.
"And plus" he continues. "I like talking to you"
I gulped. "That's true I mean that's what friends are for right?" I awkwardly giggle.
He looks down to the ground. "Yeah"
Oh this is torturing me.
Lunch
I rushed to my locker to take out my lunch before Ashton can try to corner me. I pulled out my lunch but before I can shut my locker myself, it was already closed.
"We need to talk"
It was Ashton
"Talk about what?" I ask innocently walking away quickly. He easily caught up to me because of his long legs, why is that boy so damn tall?
"Hailey please stop, this is serious" he grabs my arm to stop me from walking
"Ashton can we please just pretend that I don't know anything? I wasn't supposed to know anything in the first place"
"But you do know things, so we can't just ignore the fact that Luke likes you"
"Well we could" I suggest
He sighs. "Look, he really likes you. Can you just think about it before you do something you'll regret? You said it yourself, you're over Calum"
"Who said I was even under Calum?" Wait, I widened my eyes at what I just said. Ashton laughs "That word play sounded so much more appropriate in my head" I face palm and laugh as well.
"I thought it was pretty obvious that you liked Calum but you don't anymore. Which means you can go for Luke?"
"Ashton" I sigh
"I'm not telling you to go for Luke"
"yeah you are"
"I'm just saying to give him a chance" He says ignoring what I just said. "He's much better than Calum and best friendships always lead to the best relationships"
"I told you that"
"Exactly" He winked.
