3.6 "Sorry Doesnt Fix Everything"

School was finally done until the New Year which meant I can finally have some time for myself. I spent all of Thursday after the game telling Ashton and Juliet what I overheard and what I was planning to do. They told me that I was right and my decision was for the best. Then I hung out with Calum the entire day yesterday just to get my mind off of things. We went out for dinner, watched a movie and just talked. He also helped me with how the entire thing with Luke is going to go.

I take a deep breath. This is it.

I step towards the front door. Ashton reassured me that he'd make sure nobody but Luke would be home today. I think he, Juliet and their entire family went out for lunch. 

I take another breath and ring the doorbell. I tried thinking of other things while waiting and looked at the ground so I don't seem too creepy looking straight at him when he first opens the door. I kept fidgeting with my fingers and it felt like hours before the door finally opened.

"Hailey"

"Luke"

"What are you doing here?"

"Can I come in?"

He widened the door and gestured for me to come in. I hear the door close behind me and knowing him I know he's waiting for me to talk with his arms crossed. I turn around and my assumptions were right. There he was standing a metre in front of me with his arms crossed.

"I think we need to talk" I slowly say.

He nods. "Yea we do, do you want to go upst-"

"No" I say too quickly. "Um, I'll just make this fast"

"What's going on Hailey?"

"Luke um" I nervously laugh. "I don't even know how to say this"

"Are you breaking up with me?" He asks me.

"Luke, you know that I trust you with all my heart and I know you did nothing with Adrianna but that doesn't mean you don't want anything with her"

"What are you implying?"

"I heard you Luke. Thursday, at the game. When you were with Adrianna. You like her. You wanna be with her. And I don't wanna be the obstacle between you and the person who loves you just as much. I love you Luke. I really do. But like you said, there's something in the way for me too. I just don't know what is it but you do, and it's Adrianna. You're one of my closest friends Luke. I just want you to be happy"

"I-I" he stutters.

I give him a hug. He hesitates to hug me back. "Go be happy Luke. I don't hate you if that's what you're wondering. If anything you should hate me"

"I could never hate you Hailey" he mumbles.

"Good. Now go get her. I don't want you waiting a million years for your true love".  I let go from our embrace and walk towards the door.

"Hailey wait" Luke stops me. "I need to tell you something too"

I turn around to look at him.

"Do you remember that day where I was just really moody and rude to you and everyone else?"

I slowly nod vaguely remember what day that was.
