3.3 "You"

Friday, December 5, 2014 - after school

I ran out of that school as fast as I could knowing Luke was right behind me. Obviously trying to lose him I took as many turns as I could running back to Ashton and Juliet quickly.

"Hailey, what the fuck? Where's Calum?" Ashton asks me when I'm running out the door.

"Can we go home like right now before Luke shows up" I ask in between breaths dragging the both of them toward the car as forcefully as I could.

"Woah Hailey hold up, what happened?" Juliet asks me

"I'll explain at home if you guys can hurry the fuck up! Please!" I know I sounded really rude but if they kept asking me questions I'm just going to break down in tears.

Ashton looks at me not sure what to say. "Alright let's go" Juliet finally says. "Change of plans, we're going to Hailey's house" she tells Ashton. As we reverse to get out of our parking spot, I see Luke running out of the school. We lock eyes and the tears instantly came out.

"Wait isn't that Luke?" Ashton asks

I shake my head. "Just go" I tell him. He looks back at me for a second then does what he's told.

Hailey's house

I go upstairs to my room without saying a word to anyone from the car to my bed. I hear steps following behind me knowing it's Ashton because Juliet is talking to my mom about my behaviour right now. She walks in a few seconds later closing the door behind her. She comes to sit on the edge of my bed and just looks at how distressed I am. I had no emotions inside of me right now. Tears just fell out and I couldn't stop it.

"Hailey" Juliet says sympathetically. "What happened?"

"I saw Luke and" I whimpered after saying his name. I couldn't continue that sentence. I didn't want to say it because as soon as I say it, I know that it's the truth. Not just a stupid nightmare.

"And who Hails?" Ashton asks me quietly.

"Adrianna" I cry. I turned to face them with the tears streaming down my face. "I knew it. I just didn't want to think myself into believing it"

Juliet comes over to sit beside me. "What did you see?"

I took a few deep breaths trying to calm down and regain my breathing. "Calum and I found Luke's textbook in Michael's locker because he took it accidentally. Then Calum suggested to go find Luke to tell him to stop searching since we had it. Then when we walked around the corner, I saw Adrianna and Luke only centimetres away from kissing. He had his hands on her waist and leaned her against the wall and she" I couldn't continue without breaking down in tears again but I knew they understood what I was going to say.

"But Hailey you never actually saw him kiss her" Ashton says.

"So?" I scream. "You weren't there Ashton! If I wasn't there to catch them in time they would've" I took a breath. "You know what the worst part was?" I sigh. "He told me he loved me but I guess that was just a lie". They couldn't say anything. They just looked at me with sorry eyes and hugged me.

Luke's POV

Fuck. "FUCK" I scream to no one in particular. I just fucked everything up.

Calum's POV

"Calum" Adrianna softly says. "What have you done?"

I look at her straight in the eye. "I had to"

"Do you not realize what you just did?"

"I saved an innocent girl from a cheating bastard"

"No you didn't. You just messed up a completely great relationship with an amazing girl and faithful guy"
