1.1 "Mum, How Long Was She Here For?"

Wednesday October 8, night

Ashton's POV

I hop onto Luke's bed and smile innocently at him while he does his homework. He does a double-take at me when he sees how weirdly I was smiling.

"Stop that" he covers the side of his face to block his face from mine.

I giggle and walk over to Luke to stand beside him but he didn't look up at me. "Lukee" I whine. He still doesn't look at me. That does it. I move his arms and sit on his lap to get him to pay attention to me.

"What the f-" he sighs. "Ashton what are you doing? We're not 7 anymore"

"But I'm happy right now"

"Why?" he asks. "and get off me" he pushes me off of his lap and spins his chair to face me.

"Well you see Lucas, over the past few days I have figured out that I am quite like Sherlock" I start to explain.

"What are you talking about?" He stands up from his chair and I push him back down.

"Now listen here penguin. I was thinking and thinking and thinking so very hard about what might've happened Saturday night"

"Oh my god not this again" but before he can turn his chair completely around, I stopped him and turned him back towards me.

"And after all that thinking, ding, I finally got it"

"Got what?" He asks nervously.

"Well first you were with Mackenzie but then I figured out that you actually detest her, however you're still with her for some unknown reason. Then I figured out that whatever reason why you're with Mackenzie is because of something Calum Hood did. I know what you're thinking. Calum? 'I don't even know Calum, why would it have to do something with him'" I imitated Luke.

"Ok first of all, that sounds nothing like me" He sasses.

"LET ME FINISH" I point my finger at him and he shuts up. "Then after some more investigating I heard that Calum played an interesting game of truth or dare with some of his friends that night and with the one and only, our best friend, Hailey Silverson"

Luke widens his eyes as I mention Haileys name and I smile knowing I was on the right track.

"Then after some more investigating I found out that something happened between those two during the game, but why does that matter you may ask. Well it just so happens that little Lucas here....HAS A CRUSH ON HAILEY" I exclaim. Luke was silent. He opened his mouth to say something but no words came out. I was right about everything.

"When did you figure this out?" He sighs.

"I put all the missing pieces together during lunch when I saw the way you looked at her" I explain.

He moves to lie down on his bed. "You're right. I've had feelings for Hailey ever since I laid my eyes on her in the cookie aisle"

"If you did, then why'd you ignore her and treat her like an asshole?" I ask him

"After seeing her kiss Calum, I got jealous that he was holding her exactly the way I want to be. I wanted to be the one to hold her in my lap, cuddle with her and kiss her"

"Is that why you got with Mackenzie?"

"Basically. I wanted to make her jealous. I wanted her to feel like how I did, so I pretended I gave no fucks about her but I just couldn't do that. And when I saw Calum calling her over in the halls I just entered the classroom as if I didn't care but I did so much. I was worried that he might do something to her, which he did, that after I sat down I got right back up to see what was happening. Then I saw him grab her by the wrist and slam her by the lockers and I couldn't just watch that happen. So of course I jumped in to help her, I couldn't bare to see her get hurt. Then after I saved her, you can tell she was holding back her tears from the pain he caused her. I wanted to hold her and tell her that everything's going to be alright and that I'll always be there for her. I wanted to see her smile again like she always does with that cute small giggle she has. And the way her eyes shine whenever she's talking about something she loves. She' just sweet, perfect and..not mine" He finishes sadly.

I wasn't able to say anything after Luke just confessed everything he felt for Hailey.

"You can't tell her I said any of this" he says to me "I know she doesn't feel the same and I don't want to lose our friendship"

"Well you have to at least try to fight for her" I encourage him.

"No, I don't want to risk losing our friendship. I spent the past three days without Hailey and it was hell, I wouldn't be able to survive a life without her. Please promise me Ashton"

"I promise"

"Pinky promise?" He puts out his pinky.

I laugh "What?"

"C'mon just do it" he insists

"Fine" I pinky promise him and roll my eyes. "I swear to god if you tell anyone about this I'm going to kill you" we both laugh. "I'm gonna go take a piss"

"TMI loser" he groans. I laugh and open Luke's door to go to the washroom. As soon as I open the door I hear a little squeak and steps going down the stairs. Curiously, I go down the stairs to see if anyone was there.

"Lauren? Harry?" I hear the front door close so I go down to the living room. "Mum who was that?"

"Hailey. Oh oops, she told me not to tell you or Luke that she was here. It was so strange, she told me she had to go upstairs to go talk to you but then she went running off" my mom replied

My eyes widened "Mum, how long was she here for?"

"Hmm I think she came for around 10 minutes ago why?"

"Oh no reason, thanks mum" I reply. No way she couldn't have heard that, shit, shit, shit, shit. A beep came from my pocket indicating that I received a text.

Haileycopter: Oh my god

Shit, she just heard everything we said. More importantly, she just heard Luke's confession

This chapter was so short but idk man when I was writing Luke's confession I was getting feels

I know right now it sounds like its a Luke fanfic but I promise you it really is a Calum fic

Omg my neighbour keeps smoking weed so whenever i open my window the smell comes into my room and my older brother keeps thinking thats me LIKE NO I SWEAR TO GOD ITS NOT ME
