Chapter 16- One Of These Days

*Tae's POV*

*Draya Michele as Michelle Santiago*

"Everything has to be perfect for her." Klay says as I tie his tie.

"Trust me, she's gonna love it because she loves you."

"Thank you for being here for me and helping me set this up for her." He says breathing heavily.

"No problem, you've been there for me when I needed you, your like a brother to me and I just want to see Destiny happy. She'll love this. Trust me." I say patting his face.

"Steph is coming with the candles. He should be on his way right now."

Stephen.

It's been 2 years since we fell off and and now it's July, the day of Destiny's birthday. We talk but it's not the same since his little drunken fiasco and me sleeping with Blake made him more attached to me, we're kinda sorta together. It's an on and off thing. It's definitely on right now. Stephen still doesn't know about what happened with Blake that night and I intend to keep It that way.

"Trust me, I'll handle it. Don't worry about anything. Me and Stephen will get everything ready. You need to relax. You seem tense." I laugh as I walk out of the hotel door closing it. Alright now where is this jack ass. I pull out my phone and dial his number. He answers on the 6th ring, just before the phone sends me to voicemail. I hear giggles in the background.

"Hello sugar muffin." He knows I hate it when he calls me that. It sounds so forced. I hear another giggle.

"Um.... Are you bringing the candles or not man." I say cooly.

"I'm in the hotel lobby right now. I have the candles. Don't get your thong in a bunch."

"No Stephanie, don't get your thong in a bunch. I'll be there to show you the ballroom." I say as I hang up the phone. Walking to the elevator I text Klay and tell him I'll be right back. And as I get I to the elevator I'm taking deep breaths.

Flashback,

"I don't even know what we're doing anymore. I think it's best if we stay friends." I said sadly.

"But, I love you. We can work through this. How many times do I have to tell you I'm sorry?" He says, tears forming in his eyes. He looks at me with those sad green eyes and I almost cave in, but I have to stand my ground.

"I love you too. But I refuse to get hurt anymore."

I didn't even notice the elevator opened up. My eyes watered up from the memory but I slide that aside. Nothing will ruin Destiny's special day. As I approach the lobby, there's a girl with a dress that's too revealing and long caramel legs on Stephen's arm. I'm not tripping because I look good. I have on a gold Michael Kors gown Blake got me for my birthday. It fits my curves so elegantly that when Steph sees me he stares a lot harder and longer than he should have.

"Tae.. " He says looking me up and down.

"Wardell."

"You look amazing, 22 looks good on you." He says whole heartedly.

He's probably referring to the glow I have. That's that regular dick for ya.

"Thanks... Who's this?" I say looking at the caramel skinned woman.

"I'm Michelle." she says placing her hand out to shake mine.

"And Michelle is my girlfriend. We just came to help out with the set up before we dip to the club spot." He says with a cheesy smile. I have to repeat this thought in my head.

This is Destiny's day.

"So she's going to the club? With us?"

"Yes. " she says with a whole lot of attitude and confidence.

Ignoring that I say, " Let me show you guys to the ball room."

I'm in the ballroom. Lighting candles and I continue to hear little giggles and "Boy stop" every 5 minutes. These assholes aren't even helping. I don't even know why he showed up. To make me jealous? I thought we were way past this stage.

"Yall can just go to the club and set up now since I'm almost done." I say a little salty.

"Oh alright." Stephen says laughing.

"Yeah alright" I say mocking him. Michelle rolls her eyes as she walks out.

"See you tonight Angel Face." He whispers when he's not in earshot of Michelle.

I just laugh. "Your so damn annoying." I say under my breath. Lord that man is fine.

I finally see the camera crew come in and I'm relieved. Everything is exactly how Klay wants it. And I get to sit back and watch my girl be surprised even though in not supposed to be here. Let's just hope this birthday dinner goes well!

*Destiny's POV*

This is the fanciest thing I've ever seen. I walk into this ballroom like place and its all decorated romantically. Klay has been treating me like a princess the whole time I've been here. There's like a personal violinist and the lights are dimmed, then there's one table in the middle of the room that he leads me to. He's been acting weird all day. Sweating in places he shouldn't sweat, but I can tell my baby just wanted my birthday to be special. Better than my last birthday when he got food poisoning and threw up all over me in the club, I wasn't feeling that. This is definitely a step up. I'm sitting down and we're talking and he just doesn't seem like he can sit still.

"So you know I love you right? I hope you never question my love for you." He begins.

"Where is this coming from?"

"My heart. And it's your birthday" He says nervously. "I guess what I'm trying to say is your my world, the Apple of my eye, my best friend and my other half." He says getting up.

"Okay you must want a favor or something cause you're being too nice." I joke.

"Aw man you got me. I do want you to do me a favor. " He said laughing. As he gets on one knee." I want you to do me a favor and marry me, I don't want to go another day without calling you my wife."

My eyes tear up and I start to remember all the people I thought I was gonna marry and here I am, just turning 22 today about to marry Klay Thompson. He may be 27 but he's the love of my life. And I couldn't imagine another day without him.

"Baby is that a yes? " Klay says looking at me frantically.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!" I say as I stand up wrapping my arms around him and kissing his soft lips while saying,

"I thought you'd never ask."
