People say that once you meet your soulmate for the first time, you would know immediately. You really doubted that statement, because you had dated a few men in your lifetime. None of them ended well. The problem was, that you actually felt like you met your soulmate with every one of these men. It wasn't like you knew what the feeling was, but to love someone, isn't that enough proof?
You've been broken so many countless times that you were about to completely give up on the whole concept of love. The fact that you commit to something and lay yourself bare in front of someone and then have it all crashing down, it just wasn't worth it in your mind. To you, it was better to stay in the safe zone, than take a risk and get eaten alive.
The way you saw the world. It was black and white, and I mean literally. You've heard about all these colors that people could see: Red, blue, yellow and even rainbow. You couldn't see any of them and you couldn't figure out why. You spent so much of your time just trying to find the soulmate that would allow you to experience the whole in a whole new perspective, but nobody that you were together with could bring you this satisfaction. Some would say that it was cruel to go hunting for the one person because you wanted to experience color and dimension, but you never thought of it that way. In the end, you had realized that there was no point in seeing color, if it meant never really finding the one to love.
You saw him in black and white in the beginning. You had walked into a pub to grab a small drink before heading home for the night. As usual, the day was dull and boring. He looked pretty intimidating, so you weren't really planning on even associating with him. However, you couldn't help but glance in his directions frequently, examining his every feature. He had a scowling resting face, as well as a bold undercut that worked so well for him. He seemed to be deep in thought about something, because he had been staring at his drink absentmindedly for quite some time now.
By now you have had more alcohol than you had planned to consume. You could feel your blood rushing to your face, giving you a soft glow. As you stand up shakily to pay the bill, you trip clumsily on the way and happened to land on someone's table.
"Oi...what the fuck.." A grumpy voice resonates through your ears as you try to blink away the blurriness.
"I'm so sorry!" You mumble an apology as you scramble to get a hold of yourself.
That was the moment you almost collapsed in shock. It wasn't just the alcohol that was making you feel faint, but it was also the way everything looked. The black and white slowly ebbed away, and was being replaced with vibrant reflections that you had never seen in your life. Don't get me wrong, you wanted to see this all your life, yet now that it was really happening, you couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. You slowly look down at your hand to find it on top of his, you must have accidentally touched him as you tried to break your fall.
You slowly look up to see his face was exactly as speechless as yours.
"Do you-" You begin to stutter as you motion towards the whole room with your hands; hoping that he would understand you somehow.
The man in front of you nods slowly as he runs his hands through his hair as if he still couldn't believe that this was happening. He could suddenly see color too, and he knew exactly what that meant.
"I'm Levi." He extends a hand for you to shake.
"I'm (Your Name)." You nod slightly as you extend your own hand to shake.

Dear Readers,
This soulmate AU is how the person can only see black and white until they find their soulmate, in which after that, they can finally see color. I hope you enjoyed! I'm sorry it's so confusing.
Love,
Winnie.
