-I really hope that you guys had a splendid christmas! Life has been quite hectic for me, so I finally had the time to sit down with a cuppa to write a oneshot for you guys. Please, enjoy!-

The fireflies glowed brightly in contrast to the dark sky above him and he brushed some off his chair before practically collapsing into it. The winter night is beyond chilly, yet it was the bite of the cold air that became the thrill of it all. Levi threw a couple of logs into the sputtering fire, watching as the flames gnawed at it slowly. The mist from his sighs dissipated as the warmth of the campfire seeped into his surroundings. The fire would have to last through the night, or you'd both freeze to death before you reached your destination.

Maybe it was a bad idea to want to go on a trip when you were bearing a child in you, but this was important. This journey wasn't just for the fun of it all, you knew that you had to see what he did before bringing his child into this world. Your limbs complained and ached from the intense walking, but you don't even dare to complain about it. You scooch closer to the fire before stretching out your hands hesitantly at the untamed fire. A small gasp escapes your mouth as the hearth crackles unexpectedly. Levi watches your movements with a small amused look before poking at the charred wood again. You can tell that he's making fun of you, but you decide to keep quiet instead of retorting like you usually do. Pretending not to notice, you start to run your hand along the back of your ankles.

"How you feeling?" His deep voice soothes your entire being as he asks you with utmost concern.

"A bit swollen and sore, but we're almost there." you sigh before forcing a small grin.

"You know, we don't have to do this." Levi suggests softly, his tone is unusual.

Before you can say anything, Levi makes his way over to you before crouching down next to you. He holds your thigh gently between his sturdy hands and begins to massage without a single word. You bite your lip unconsciously as you feel bad about the fact that you're just slowing everything down. You try to pull your leg away, but he gives you a warning glare and you know better than to retaliate to that look.

"This is your child, Levi." you whisper thickly. "They deserve to know that this child exists because they saved your life."

"I don't know if I can face them, (Your Name). It's been so long." Levi turns his head to conceal his pained expression.

You look away too as you cannot bear to see him so upset. Your eyes settle on the steady movement of the fire. It crackled in the corner, projecting shadows on to the campsite. The lights being cast on the trees around you made the night less lonely and ominous. The flames are bright and vividly orange, almost red even. It's so cold, even with the fire so close to you. Shivers run down your spine, and you pull the thick coat tighter around your body.  Levi notices this and motions you over into the crook of his arm.

"You are one tough pregnant lady." He gives in with an exasperated sigh as he wraps his arms securely around your waist.

You reach up with your gloved fingers and run them through his jet black strands of hair. His narrow eyes soften a little at your gesture and he cradles the back of your hand with his own before shutting his eyes briefly. To him, a journey like this is nothing. He's been through much more in the army, to compare this experience to his past ones would be preposterous. Levi has lost so many of his comrades during the great war, he's suffered grave consequences both mentally and physically. Having a strong commander wrapped around your tiny finger may seem very appealing, but it also has it's downsides. He fell for you, and now you have to take responsibility and love him unconditionally. It's so much easier said than done. Your relationship suffered rocky turbulences at the very beginning, but now that you were expecting his child, it just reminds you of how far you've come together.

"Let's just hope our child is as tough as the both of us." you giggle lightly and he stoops down to peck you on the lips.

"Just shut up and sleep, you shit."

The next morning is rather pleasant, unlike the previous night. The birds are now chirping instead of the crickets, and you find yourself more refreshed after a good night of sleep. You know that Levi hasn't gotten an ounce of sleep, but you let him pretend that otherwise. He's had a lot on his mind lately, especially about bringing you to see his friends. It's been so long since he's visited, and along with the nostalgia there are unless waves of pain for him. Even so, you want him to face it now or he'll never face it at all. The closure will help him and you with the future that is to unfold, especially with your child on the way.

The light cut through the early morning clouds, and you both finally arrive at the crack of dawn. The cemetery is rather small and sheltered, but looked as if it was well maintained for all these years. It's undoubtedly a very beautiful spot, with trees and nature shielding the souls of the dead. To think that the most important people to Levi were buried here, it not only sinks your heart, but it also renders you speechless. Levi walked past the neat rows of the tombstones, touching each one as he skimmed through the names. It's been so long that he forgot where they lay. Suddenly his steps stop abruptly and you almost bump straight into his back. You hear his breath hitch shakily, and you look down to read the bold lettering.

Farlan Church.

Isabel Magnolia.

"They're here." he breathes softly, and you pull yourself closer to him, hoping that he'd hold you for some sort of comfort. "I can't believe that we're here."

"Farlan and Isabel. What beautiful names." you hush as the tears spring to your eyes automatically. "Thank you for everything that you've done for Levi."

"My life. Our child. Everything...everything I owe to you guys. I'll raise (Her/Him) right, so please watch over my family."
