-I went out running in the rain today and got inspired to write this. Enjoy!-
"I'm sorry (Your Name), but can you go and pick up a few documents from that detergent company a few blocks away? Since the partnership deal is going to take effect in a few weeks, we need to prepare the contracts." Your boss scratches the back of his apologetically as he gives you an array of tasks to complete for the day.
"Of course sir." You nod and wave off his words of atonement before grabbing your coat.
The sky was pearl blue the moment you left your work place. Birds chirped in harmony and the gentle breeze couldn't feel more comforting. However, there wasn't much time for you to stop and enjoy the environment. You glance at your wristwatch to realise that you were running behind schedule. You stare ahead to see the green pedestrian light beginning to blink As you swivel around to make the fastest dash in your life, a car zooms by and you almost run straight into it. If it wasn't for that mysterious arm that reached out to yank you back, you would have become roadkill.
"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't know what I was thinking!" You exclaim as you instantly detach yourself from the man's chest; totally ignoring the throbbing in your nose from running straight into it.
"Do you want to die brat?!" He demands scarily as he looks (up/down) at you with a glare that rooted you to the ground.
"N-no. I was just in a hurry and-" You try to explain yourself, but he seemed to become disinterested.
"Tch. Whatever." He clicks his tongue and you feel your anger beginning to flare.
"Just hold on a-!" You begin to defend yourself but your words falter as he was already far away.
As you wait for the pedestrian street light to turn green again, you find your mind wandering in thoughts of the man you had just encountered. As the anger subsides, you cannot help but find the whole thing hilarious and cheesy.Before you even realise it, a huge grin was plastered on your face naturally. Even though you earn yourself frowns from a few people around you, you suddenly felt refreshed and ready to go. You had received just the right boost to keep your adrenaline pumping.
"Okay. I got this. Let's do it!"
~~~
"Are you fucking kidding me?" You groan as you clutch the folder of documents to your chest as you stare up at the sky in horror.
You could have sworn that it was perfectly sunny and breezy less than an hour ago. It was almost scary how fast it changed. The rain was pelting down heavily, and you were already running late. You heave a sigh dejectedly as you were faced with one problem after another. However, you motivate yourself again before dashing out with your folder hidden in your jacket to protect them from the rain. After running a few blocks, you take shelter in front of a convenient store and heave as the running was taking it's toll on your body. You wring out your hair in the process and you hear a familiar sound beside you.
"Tch. You again." A cold voice masks the loud sound of the rain and you turn your head instantly to see the man from earlier.
"Well hello to you to." You allow yourself to sound aloof as you pull out the folder to check on it.
"At least you're dedication is up to par." He coughs as he averts his gaze and you turn to him with a teasing smile.
"So. You CAN be nice." You giggle as you shake your head like a dog to; spraying water everywhere.
"Don't push your luck...brat."
