-I hope you enjoy! This was inspired by the drama "Uncontrollably Fond". It's been killing me dude.-
"You must've misdiagnosed me." Levi sighs as he shoves his hands deeper into his pockets.
"Levi." His doctor opens his mouth to stop his delusional words, but Levi doesn't allow her to cut him off.
"I feel fine. I'm fine. Look at me." he motions to himself with his hand with annoyance.
"We could start chemotherapy and radioactive treatment. The sooner the better, I suggest that you admit yourself in as soon as possible." she says timidly, but Levi's sharp glare shuts her up immediately.
"What then? It's not like I'm not going to die." he hisses as his fists clench so hard that his knuckles turn bright white.
"It may extend your life." she continues calmly, but her efforts prove to be in vain.
"Forget it. Just give me the strongest painkillers you've got, make it so that nobody notices, including me."
Levi's head is muzzled as he brings out his keys from his pockets weakly. He opens the door to his apartment and just looks around at everything. He can already see the dust collecting, the spiderwebs growing thick and ghastly, and the house growing eerily quiet. That's probably what would happen after he dies. He still can't really fathom how such misfortune was bestowed upon him and him only. Levi has a good life, scratch that, he has a terrific life now. He spent ages building himself up over the terrifying years of being in foster care. With no parents, he still managed to reconstruct the broken life of his. But it's not all about himself anymore, he has you to worry about.
His footsteps echo around the house as he kicks his shoes off before collapsing onto the soft sofa. His sensitive nose catches on the soft and loving scent of you. You were at work at the moment, and he misses you terribly. Levi swallows with difficulty as he pulls out the vials of pills from his jacket coat. How was he supposed to break the news to you? It's been a while since he found out about his illness, but he didn't want to tell you the truth. You wouldn't be able to take it. Besides, he hates it when you cry.
Levi's eyes tighten as another wave of pain hits his temples. If he were standing, he would've collapsed, but instead he crouches up in a small ball before enduring the pain with the best of his ability. He refrains from reaching for the pills, because he's afraid that once he starts to rely on them, he'll finally understand how inevitable his departure is. It's just massively unfair. He thought he had at least a year to live life. But it's been cut short to a measly 3 months. 3 months to prepare, 3 months to love, and 3 months to say good bye. He gnaws at his trembling bottom lip before letting out a series of pained pants. Tears threaten to spill over as his trembling hands pop a handful of the pearl-like medicine on to his writhing mouth. His muscles finally stop pulsating and every ounce of energy just seeps out of his body as it goes slack from exhaustion.
"Levi? H-hey, are you feeling alright?" Levi hears a soothing voice and his groggy eyes open to reveal a very concerned lover. "You're burning up like crazy!"
"F-fine," he croaks as he attempts to sit up, but he's hit with another episode of vertigo. "Don't worry about it. I'm probably just tired."
As he attempts to stand up, his weak body sways as if it's being shaken by the wind, and he plops back down on to the couch weakly. His eyes are bloodshot and cold sweat glistens off his neck, dampening his t shirt. Your heart crawls into your throat as you don't know what to do.
"Should I call for a doctor?" you hush with such fear in your eyes. "Or should I call an ambulance?"
Your shaking hands grasp on to the phone next to you, but his clammy ones quickly overlap yours as he shakes his head gently. His head lolls weakly, and you're scared that it'll fall right off his shoulders. Now that you notice him in a new light, he's gotten way skinnier and his complexion looks sickly, as if the thin skin is hiding some sort of ordeal that is going on inside. Even in such a state, he squeezes your hand tightly, and his cracked lips part to splinter your heart into pieces with his confession.
"(Your Name), I need you to listen to me." he barely manages a whisper and you edge closer to cup his cheeks in your warm palms.
"Levi, you're scaring me." you whimper as you run your thumbs along his sharp cheekbones.
"I...I'm very sick," he starts and you just stare at him as you process what he's saying.
"Well, that's fine! We can just get you some medicine and-"
"No. (Your Name). It's not that simple," he grits his teeth as if the words are hurting him way more. "I have cancer."
Levi's eyes bore holes into you, completely obliterating everything else on your mind. You just stare back at with with your mouth open in shock. He watches you silently as you close your mouth and clamp it shut. Your dilated pupils just exist, until the idea that this is actually happening crashes down on your poor soul. It's so hard to take in, you don't want to believe it. If the emotion of "pain" could be a physical thing, it'd be an ocean. It's unexpectedly powerful wave slams you into the shards of sand, and you just lay there, drowning in grief and sadness.
"How long do you have left?" you manage to mumble incoherently, but luckily Levi has sharp ears.
"3 months."
His hoarse words are like a slap to the face, and you finally start to feel the betray and anger boiling beneath your skin. So you let your sight go red, and you just swing your arm roughly to detach yourself from him. Levi automatically reaches out towards you, but his arms freeze up as he realises. And his hands shrink back, your heart breaking into pieces at his body language.
"And you didn't tell me about it? All this time?" your voice quivers dangerously. "Please, tell me this is a cruel joke you're playing on me."
"(Your Name)...please.." he pleads quietly, and in response your eyes fill with hopeless tears.
"This...this is just too much." you begin to sob. "I need...I need to get out of here."
Your legs stand abruptly, and just as you press down on the door handle to leave, Levi's voice resonates in your heart, and you stop.
"Please don't go." Levi breathes cautiously. "Please, (Your Name)."
You taste the bitter flavour of blood as it pools in your mouth. You're biting down on your lip so hard as you suppress the empty sobs. Your head hangs down, and the stream of brine tears drip down your chin. Levi just stares at your back, unable to walk over to hold you and to comfort you. He wants to tell you that everything is going to be okay, but he can't. He can't lie to himself, and he can't lie to you anymore either. You decide to finally compose yourself, and you wipe away your tears before turning to walk back to him. Silence ensues as you don't hesitate to sit back down next to him. He leans in closer and pulls your body into his embrace, he holds you tightly and the tears become endless. He calms himself down by inhaling your soft and fragile scent and running his slender fingers through your tangled hair.
Don't go.
