Losing You. (Mourning!Levi x Deceased!Reader)

Levi stared into a wall as he slouched over in his couch. He lost count of how many hours he spent in that state, maybe it was even days that flew by. Beside him was a pile of cigarette ends that he had consumed over the week. He couldn't even bother to shower, how would he be able to find the need to clean out his apartment? He usually couldn't stand messes and dirt, but after your death, he just couldn't care less anymore.

His apartment was a total pigsty. Empty cans and bottles of alcohol were strewn everywhere, and he seemed to have set up a paper box take away shrine at some point. As he lit another cigarette to bring to his lips, he noticed the picture frames resting harmlessly on top of the tea cup cabinet. They were pictures of you and him together.

Levi remembers how much you had to beg and nag for him to agree on taking that retched photo. You never smiled, and he regretted it. If he knew you were going to leave so soon, he would have smiled, he would have taken a million photos just to make you happy. Anger boiled inside of him, he was beating himself up for not being the best he could have been for you.

His arm lashes out against his will and the pictures all shatter to the ground. The glass thrown everywhere. As he pants to calm himself, he bends and picks up the picture that was now exposed. His hands shook, and finally tears began to run down.

When he heard the news about your car accident, he felt like his heart shattered into millions of pieces. The only way he would have felt better was if he could see you smile at him again. It was too late when he rushed over to the hospital you were being treated at. Your injuries were just too severe. Even though his heart was physically paining, he didn't cry. Not at your funeral, and not when the doctors told you the news.

He had shut off his emotions until that moment, and he was finally able to let it out; alone in the apartment that held so many memories of you. Everywhere he looked, he saw you. He craved your shoulders brushing against him when he went outside. He craved your hand in his, even though he had claimed how much he hated public display of affection.

It took him months to finally accept your death. He finally started to function again, but he knew that he was never going to be able to feel the way he did when you were alive. Despite time running fast, Levi didn't intend to chase after it. You were just too far ahead, and he wasn't able to reach out for you.

He trudged along the stony path, his footsteps soft and mellow. The trees swayed along with the soft breeze, and the sun warmed his body. In his hands were a bouquet of (Your Favorite Flower Name). He set it down gently on to the cool grey slate of stone that engraved your name.

"Good-bye. (Your Name)."
