You would end up going there everyday. It wasn't just the familiar sounds of their blades slicing through the rink, nor was it just the chilly air that reminded you of fresh winter snow. It was because there was someone you wished to be able to be like, someone you had admired for years and years, idolizing him and even inspiring to be like him.

Levi Ackerman was the famous figure skater in all of Japan. He had a history of perfect scores and flawless performances. Ever since you watched him live, which left you in awe at a very young age, you aspired to be just like him. You wanted to skate and make people feel the way he made you feel.

Alive.

You always believed that you could do it, you were so happy to be able to take classes and compete in competitions with other great opponents that made your hands sweat like crazy. As bizarre as it sounds, you enjoyed the thrill of the races, you enjoyed it whether you lost or won, it was just at that moment when you were out there alone in the middle of a pearl white rink surrounded by so many people, nothing could compare, not even winning. You were finally able to do what you wanted to, but it all came tumbling down when you least expected it.

You ran your finger around the coarse and jagged line that strikes across the corner of your mouth to the top of your cheek. It was the scar that left you scared and helpless. The scar that held you back from stepping on to the ice once more to redeem your happiness. It was that one trivial thing that could make you emotionally immobilized for your entire life. After the accident, all you could do was sit on the side and watch as countless people enjoyed and savored their dreams. What made you mad was that they didn't seem to be enjoying the privilege they were bestowed with. It was more like they treated it like an obligation. Their faces didn't show freedom, it showed anxiety and stress as the accuracy of their moves were becoming more important than actually feeling the rush that you longed to feel again. Tears threatened to fall, but a voice snapped you out immediately.

"Oi. You lost or something? You come all this way to the rink, and don't even skate? What are you doing here?" A rough voice echoes through your ears and you immediately wrap your arms around your elbows for comfort as you turn your head towards the voice.

"L-Levi?" You cannot help but gasp as you see the man in front of you. He tilts his head and frowns as you utter his name.

"Do I know you?" He asks with his guard up.

"Ah..no. You're..you know..famous." You murmur as you brush your hair behind your ear.

"Now that you mention it, I think I've seen your face before. Have we met?" He leans in closer, almost exposed to the horrific scar on your face which you usually had covered with a mask.

You quickly pull your hand up to your cheek, but know it's too late as his eyes narrow.

"You're that girl that got into that freak accident a year ago, when your partner's blade caught your face...and" He describes and you cringe as you are reminded of the incident. His words fall short as he realizes that he was being very insensitive.

"I'm..sorry. I'm not good with people." He coughs and sits down next to you as he watches the other skaters training.

"It's okay. I'm not either." You sigh as you look down at your knees.

"Why'd you stop..you know..skating." He asks hesitantly and you take a deep breath.

"Skating is a work of art. Everything is beautiful about it. When someone like me wants to start again, it just ruins the whole work of art. I'm never going to be beautiful...and I just can't get on the ice again without remembering." Your voice catches and you have to swallow as you give a weary smile.

"Well..to me...you look just fine." He answers as he shrugs.

You both sit there in silence for a while before he gets up in his skates and rummages through the skates storage box. He pulls out a pair of them and hands them to you.

"What-" You begin, but he kneels down and begins to help you put them on.

"Don't think you're leaving here without even trying to find that reason you began skating in the first place." He orders firmly as he finishes tying you up, he then extends a hand with a small smirk on his face.

"You know what my reason was to start skating?" You breath as you look into his eyes filled with curiosity at the rhetorical question.

"It was you."
