Where Could She Be?

Max's POV:

I was in a deep sleep, but then, a slight change woke me up. I open my eyes and see that El is not in the bed. I figured she might have just went to the bathroom, but that's when I noticed the door to the bathroom was open and the light was off, so that was a no.

Maybe she's in the kitchen. I got up and checked, but she wasn't there, either.

Me: "El? Where did you go?"

I checked the living room, the basement, the attic, the other bathroom, the other bedroom, but she wasn't in any of those places.

Where could she be?

That's when I heard a noise from outside. Was there someone about to break into our house? Could it be a Demo?

Not on my watch.

I went to the closet and grabbed my own homemade nail bat. I looked out the window and I saw nothing but a dark figure. It didn't look like a Demo, but I wasn't taking any chances.

I slowly opened the door, then crept up on the figure with bat in hand.

Me: "Freeze!"

The figure stopped.

Me: "Hands up, I have a weapon here."

The figure slowly put their hands up, and that's when I saw the hair tie. That's when it all came together.

Me: "El?"

The person slowly turned around, and indeed, it was her.

El: "Hi, Max."

She puts her hands down, and I put my bat down.

Me: "What are you doing out here so late, and why are you wearing that hoodie? It's not even cold."

Before she could answer, I looked down and saw something else that caught my eye. I picked up her foot and held it close to me. I couldn't help but smile.

Me: "You were playing in the mud again, weren't you?"

She just nods. I stand back up and held her hands.

Me: "El, I told you that you don't have to hide that from me, it's okay that you like to do that."

El: "I know, but... I just don't want anyone else to see me do it, because they might say something bad about it."

Me: "Well, they're just assholes, because they don't know what it's like."

El nods in agreement, then tilts her head down and lowers her gaze. My heart melted immediately. I smiled widely and gently tiled her head back up to face me, then I gave her a soft kiss. She quietly moans at the contact, then as I pull away, we pressed our foreheads together.

Me: "You're so cute, you know that, right?"

El: "So are you."

We kept our position for a bit longer, then she speaks again.

El: "Will you join me? In the mud?"

Me: "Of course, Ellie, I'd do anything for such a cutie like you."

I playfully booped her on the nose and she giggled. I led her back to the area that was muddy and wasted no time jumping in. For the next hour or so, the two of us have lots of fun in the mud.
