Max and El celebrate Halloween by participating in the annual haunted corn maze.

Max's POV:
It is Halloween night, and El and I are at the annual festival at Merrill Wright's farm. It's the first time since the whole Upside Down tunnels situation, and plus, it was El's first time being able to celebrate now that there was no sign of any real monster or government agents to hunt her down.
When we first got there, it wasn't too crowded, and there were still people showing up. A lot of them had different costumes on.
Which, speaking of, El and I decided to dress up as Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. If you don't remember I did that when I was younger, then just how uncultured are you?
Sorry, anyway, after we got our tickets, we were looking around and trying to find what to do first.
Me: "I think we should do the corn maze, what do you think?"
El looks a little nervous.
El: "Mmm... I don't know. It might be too scary."
I held her hand.
Me: "It's okay, El, I'll be with you the whole time. If you get too scared, we can turn back."
El thought that seemed pretty fair.
El: "Okay, then."
I smiled and led her to the entrance. The guy at the front was dressed Freddy Krueger. He did the voice, too.
Freddy: "Waa-ha-ha-ha, welcome, ladies, to our maze of terror. Be careful where you step, you never know what you might find."
We handed him the tickets and went inside. We were greeted with haunting laughter on a speaker system. At the first turn, there was a group of zombies. El was doing good so far, but I stayed close to her just in case. At the next turn, there was a clown with an axe, and he did his scary clown laugh, which did startle El a bit. I held her arm.
Me: "It's okay, El, I've got you. Let's keep going."
Clown: "Beware, little ones, you never know what you might find around the next corner."
We just ignored this and pressed on.
There were a few more things that didn't seem too bad, but there was one turn where it seemed like something was about to pop out, and when it did, it was heading right towards us. Admittedly, it scared the both of us, but it went flying over our heads and landing on top of the maze.
It was just a fucking crow, and it squawks at us a couple times.
Me: "Yeah, screw you, too."
It flies away.
Me: "Onward."
El and I press on, and after some time, we finally reach the end, or so we thought. As we were about to head there, El suddenly stops. I turn around and face her.
Me: "What's wrong? Did you see something else that was scary?"
El shakes her head, then points down. I look where she's pointing, and that's when I see that she's stuck in a single patch of mud.
Me: "What the hell? It hasn't rained here for a few days, how is that even possible?"
The guy at the end, who's dressed like a deranged pirate, answers that question.
Exit Guy: "That'd be another little trap we set up for our guests. You know what they say: you never know what you might find around the corner."
Another repeat of that stupid phrase, followed by another laugh.
El: "Okay, I'm getting tired of hearing that."
Me: "Me, too."
I look back down and kneel in front of El.
Me: "Let's get you out of here."
Both of us take turns pulling on her legs and trying to free her from this mud trap. It takes a bit, but when we finally do get her out, it's now just her shoes that are still stuck, so we end up having to pull them out, too, and the force of the suction was so powerful that when we did finally get them out, we were sent falling backwards, but we didn't hit the ground because two people behind us caught us.
We turn around to thank them, but there costumes scared us. They laugh it off and take off their masks. That's when I see their faces.
Me: "Nancy? Robin?"
Robin: "What's up?"
Me: "I didn't know you were going to be here today."
Nancy: "Well, it took a little convincing, but I managed to get Robin to come here with me."
El: "What are you two dressed up as?"
Robin: "I'm Chucky."
Nancy: "And I'm Chucky's wife, Tiffany."
Me: "Nice."
El: "Also, just so you know, do not step here, because... well, I'm sure you already saw."
Robin: "Ah, that's nothing. I was in a similar situation a few months ago, although I was up to my thighs."
Me: *chuckles* "Wait, what? How? What the hell were you even doing?"
Nancy: "She was trying to catch a frog that kept getting away from her."
Robin: "Just when I thought I had him, next thing I know, I'm up to my thighs in mud and have no way to get out on my own."
Nancy: "I had to call Steve and Jonathan to come and help."
Me: "Yikes... that must've been embarrassing."
Robin: "You have no idea. Steve still hasn't let me hear the end of it."
We decide to exit the corn maze and not keep everyone else waiting behind us.
Exit Guy: "Come back real soon, ya hear?"
He does his pirate laugh again. The four of us ignore it and make our way to a different part of the festival.
Robin: "So, what should we do now?"
El: "I'm gonna go wash my shoes off in the bathroom before I do anything else."
Me: "I'm coming with you."
Nancy: "We'll save some candy apples for you."
Me: "Love it."
El and I make our way to the bathroom, and she gets to work on washing what should she could get off her shoes.
El: "Those corn maze people better be glad that these are old shoes."
Me: "Yeah, but hey, at least we made it through."
I decided to help by washing off the other shoe.
El: "Are you proud of me for making it through and not wanting to turn back?"
I turn to face her, and took her hand in mine.
Me: "El... I'm always proud of you. You've done many things that nobody else could do. It's what makes me love you more and more everyday."
El smiled.
El: "I love you, too, Maxie."
I placed my hands on the sides of her face and kissed her, which she happily accepted. At this point, we forgot what we originally came in here to do, now we're just getting lost in each other's soft touches. El's lips felt softer today, so that made the kiss even better.
We pulled away with big smiles on our faces.
Me: "Your lips feel even softer today."
El: "I was wondering if you'd notice."
I pull her back in for another kiss, but this one is shorter because we heard someone coming this way, so we quickly started washing the excess mud off El's shoes, then she put them back on and we ran out of there to catch up with Nancy and Robin.

This one might not have been as good as the last chapter, but I hope it was still fun to read.
