Even now, it felt strange that Feitan was the same person who could torture people without blinking. The same person who could cut down enemies before they even realized he had moved and yet he was unconscious in my arms.
"...You're really sick."
There was no way I could leave him here, the forest would become dangerous once night fell and if another player found him. Well, I wasn't willing to find out what would happen.
"Guess I'm carrying you."
I immediately regretted those words. Feitan was surprisingly heavy for his size. "How are you this small and this heavy?"
Using my ability, I summoned a large cart I had touched before and carefully placed him inside. It took nearly an hour before I found a small, abandoned hunter cabin hidden between the trees.
I didn't want to go to those apartments where people might see us because I was afraid, they might recognize us.
The place wasn't much. There was a single room, a fireplace, one bed but it was enough. There were dust and webs everywhere, but I don't really have time to clean.
I carefully helped Feitan onto the bed, his forehead was still burning. Actually, no. Burning wasn't the right word. He felt like he had swallowed a miniature version of his own as he was scorching hot.
"You idiot." I couldn't stop saying that.
The fact that he had followed me saved me earlier while looking like this was unbelievable. Normal people rested when they were sick. Feitan apparently stalked people through forests. I rolled up my sleeves while tying my hair.
"Okay, time to work."
The next few days became a routine. I wake up, checked Feitan's temperature, get water, find food, return, repeat. I also cleaned up the place so it's a better environment for him and I made sure no dust ever touched him.
I did this again and again. The only problem was that I wasn't exactly an experienced nanny or cook or caretaker.
On the second day, I tried catching fish and the fish won. On the third day, I attempted to hunt rabbits, but the rabbit somehow kicked me. I still didn't understand how. I may be able to kill some people, but I could never catch a single rabbit.
By the time I returned to the cabin, there was a cut on my arm and dirt all over my clothes.
I dropped the rabbit onto the table, and it stared at me with those little cute eyes. Then somehow, when I wasn't looking, it escaped through the window. I cried a little but there was nothing I could do.
Fourth day came and I was exhausted. There were bruises on my knees from climbing hills and scratches everywhere. Though despite all that, the first thing I did every time I returned was check on Feitan.
I would kneel beside the bed, brush his hair away from his forehead and sometimes I would stare too much because I don't know, I find him handsome when he's sleeping.
"You know," I muttered one evening while changing the cloth on his forehead, "you owe me."
Feitan remained unconscious and I sighed. "Actually, that's a lie."
Because I already knew he wouldn't owe me anything. The reason why he's in this state was because of me and he had saved me countless of times already. Most of the time I would do small talks to keep my insanity.
"Shalnark is probably having the time of his life making fun of you. He and Uvogin would laugh all day if they heard that you got sick. Paku would definitely want to raid my memories so she could share it with everyone and that would be the end of your reputation."
That imagination made me laugh as I knew that it could happen. If Shalnark discovered this, he would never let Feitan live it down.
I went to the kitchen to take a basin of fresh water with both hands.
"Please don't spill..." I told myself knowing how clumsy I can be.
I had just cleaned the cabin floor this morning, and I really wasn't in the mood to do it again. As I made it to the bedroom, the cabin suddenly went completely dark.
"...Eh?" I froze as darkness took over.
Great, just great. Way to add more problems into my life. I took a cautious step, making sure I won't trip on anything stupid because my feet seems to like it. Suddenly, a voice suddenly spoke out of nowhere.
"Brat-" I screamed.
Splash! Out of pure instinct, I threw the entire basin of water straight at the figure.
The lights flickered back on and I slowly opened one eye. Standing in front of me... was Feitan completely soaked from head to toe. We stared at each other for a whole full minute before I realized what just happened.
"Ummm ...Hi?"
Feitan's eye twitched. "You..."
"I can explain." I quickly said.
"You throw water."
"Just because you scared the sh** out of me!"
"You throw entire lake."
"It was a basin!"
His expression somehow became even darker.
"I thought you were an intruder okay!"
"Tch."
"No, seriously! The lights went out, then you suddenly appeared beside me like some horror movie ghost!"
"You scream loud."
"I HAD A GOOD REASON!"
Water continued dripping onto the floor between us. Feitan took one slow step forward.
"So..." Another step. "You attack me."
"I didn't mean to!"
He continued approaching so I instinctively stepped backward.
"This wouldn't had happened if you didn't scare me!" At this point, I was actually scared.
I have no idea what he would do to me, he is the King of Torture after all. As if the Universe was watching me, my foot suddenly landed directly on the puddle of water I'd just spilled and everything happened in a blinked of an eye.
One moment I was standing up, the next I was falling straight towards Feitan. His eyes widened just slightly, probably because I was flying directly at him. He tried to move, but it was too late and THUD!
Luckily we both crashed onto the bed. The old wooden frame groaned loudly under the impact and the next thing I know, I felt something hard but soft on my lips.
I opened my eyes and widened them as soon as I realized that I was... kissing the midget!
