"Thank you!" The elderly shopkeeper smiled as she handed me the last grocery bag.

"Come back anytime!"

I stepped out of the small convenience store and adjusted the bags in my hands. I did some groceries for the troupe for our upcoming mission. I know they told me 'When I want something, I can just steal it' but that's not who I really am.

I even bought five packets of ramen because it was Feitan's favorite. He claimed he didn't care what he ate but he lied. The man literally had eaten three bowls yesterday. I mean, who doesn't like ramen?

"Tch," I muttered to myself, imitating him.

A small laugh escaped my lips. I really was spending too much time around him. As I was walking, I noticed the streets were unusually quiet.

Most shops had already closed for the evening, only a few street lamps illuminated the road ahead. I shifted the grocery bags onto one arm. Just a little further, then I'll reach Kortopi's territory.

A cool breeze brushed against my neck and I stopped walking. Something, someone... the feeling was familiar. I was being watched.

I slowly glanced behind me, nothing.  Just an empty street.

"I'm imagining things." I told myself.

I continued walking and within five steps, I heard footsteps behind me matching mine. When I stopped, the footsteps stopped and a chill crawled up my spine. I quickly turned around to catch them this time, but still nothing.

"W-who's there?" I called out, my heartbeat quickened as my eyes scanned the empty street.

I forced myself to laugh. "Okay... definitely imagining things."

When I turned back around, a hand grabbed my wrist. The grocery bags fell to the ground, apples rolled across the pavement and I gasped.

Before I could even scream, a second hand clamped tightly over my mouth. My eyes widened. No, not again.  Not my mouth.

I immediately tried to speak, to summon someone, but every sound was trapped beneath the stranger's hand.

"Mmph!" My body reacted almost instantly.

The familiar panic rushed through me making my breathing uneven and I feared for the worst.

I struggled harder. My elbow, kicking, anything that could make me free from his gasp. I managed to stomp on his foot, but it wasn't enough. He barely reacted and this made his grip tightened.

Air became harder to draw into my lungs. I tried biting his hand, nothing. It was as if he came prepared.

Another figure stepped out from the shadows. "There she is."

They knew me, no... they had been waiting. The previous ones from before were the group and with each failure of capturing me for whatever reason, they kept coming back even more prepared.

Cold sweat rolled down my back. Run! I needed to run. I twisted my body and managed to break one arm free. Yes!

I was about to summon a weapon, any weapons I'd touched before when a sharp pain exploded across the back of my neck. My vision blurred and black dots started to appear.

The streetlights stretched into long streaks of gold and I was losing my consciousness. I fought to stay awake, but failed. The last thing I saw was a carton of eggs breaking against the pavement.

Then... darkness.

The moment I regain my consciousness, my head hurts. No, everything hurts. A dull ache throbbed behind my eyes and I slowly opened them.
