Shalnark's POV
"Still nothing." I lowered my phone with a sigh, another dead end.
It's been four days, four whole days since Y/n disappeared. She only went to buy groceries, which I suggested I go with her but she refused, and now she vanished without a trace.
When I got to the scene, I saw some groceries, to which she may have purchased, scattered on the floor as if someone kidnapped her and she tried fighting back.
Feitan silently crouched beside the scene. He hadn't spoken much since we'd arrived, not that he ever spoke much, but this silence felt different. It was heavier, more dangerous as if he knew what happened and he will make sure someone will pay for their crime.
I know he's worried about Y/n more than me, even though it's not visible and I know someone will pay big time the moment we find Y/n.
"They took her." I spoke.
"I know." Feitan's tone was dangerously low.
"We'll find her." I reassured him but he didn't respond.
I waited for Y/n to summon me or anyone in the Troupe. Since she hasn't done any of that, it only means that her capturer knows her weaknesses.
The days came by faster than when you're spending time with the person you love. We've searched everywhere we can find information from. Every informant, underground auction, Mafia family. Heck Feitan had tortured many criminals to try and find information, but nothing.
By the seventh day, I realized that none of us had slept yet. Even Danchou is set on finding Y/n and I was beginning to wonder if Feitan even remembered how to sleep.
At the moment, we were sitting on the rooftop of an abandoned building overlooking Yorknew City. The wind blew quietly between us.
"Shal." I looked over to Feitan. This is one of the first time he had called my name.
"Yeah?" It had been hours since either of us spoke.
"Remember."
"What?"
"Mission." I was confused at what he was saying, but the tone in his voice was different.
"What mission?"
He was quiet for a while, like he was thinking so deep that if he shared it, someone will die.
"The one... with Y/N."
It took me a second, then I remembered. The seven-day mission that became torture for me.
"You mean when I kept trying to convince you that you liked her?" I spoke out the obvious.
I don't need to tittle tattle for him to understand it.
"...yeah."
Feitan slowly stood, his back remained facing me.
"Me understand now." He stated.
"Understand what?" I pretended not to know.
There was another long silence, long enough that I wondered if he had changed his mind. Then, very quietly, he said "Love."
I smiled at him and almost cried. After years of knowing Feitan, the man who didn't understand romance and would only find joy in torturing others, finally he understood what love is.
"So what made you understand?" I questioned him and his shoulders tensed.
For the first time since I'd met him, his voice sounded small.
"Gone. Miss. Her... presence, want."
Those words hit me harder than I expected. He continued looking over the city, as if hoping that he would see a glimpse of Y/n.
"Me want tell her, but not sure how." He continued and I slowly lowered my gaze.
Feitan finally turned toward me. There wasn't a single tear, not a single crack in his expression but only exhaustion.
"Heart, pain. Why?" He placed a hand against his chest.
"Because that's love." I smiled at him. "Your heartaches because you're worried about her and you can't do anything about it."
For probably the first time in my life, I couldn't joke or tease him. Even though this was the perfect opportunity. Instead, I walked over and gently patted his shoulder.
"And that's... love."
I do worry about the people who took Y/n. Because I know that once Feitan finds them, he wouldn't be fighting as a Spider. He'd be fighting as someone who finally understood what it meant to lose the person he loved and I pitied anyone standing his way.
