I didn’t know how to react.

Emotions were racing in my mind, I didn’t know which one to feel first. I managed to utter a few words.

“She planned her pregnancy”.

“Yes she did, Mr. Meyer” Alex responded.

I recounted the details in my mind: my daughter had a relationship with another girl, she suffered from hemophilia which is a bleeding disorder, and now I found out that she planned her pregnancy with the son of my business partner.  Did I missed anything? Oh yes, I missed almost half of her life. Where was I when all these happened to here?

I could hear the pounding in my head grow louder and it made me cringe. I had a lot of questions for Alex and AJ but I couldn’t seem to organize my words. My mouth was dry and no sound came out. AJ wasn’t looking at me. She looked down on her lap while fidgeting her fingers. Alex, on the other hand, was looking straight at me, his eyes unreadable. The blonde boy cleared his throat.

“I know this is hard for you to digest Mr. Meyer”. I didn’t reply.

He placed the box of letters on the glass table.

“Do you want to read another one?”. I slowly shook my head.

Alex sighed then said. “I guess I’ll be the storyteller this time”.
