21st Precinct
Later that afternoon Mouse had excitedly called his former Lieutenant over to his desk in the bullpen. Despite informing the green eyed man that his search had been successful Jays' reaction was dampened by sadness. While it was good the IT Specialist had managed to track down two more land parcels owned by Jason Martin, in Los Angeles and Dallas respectively, it was also distressing to have confirmation there were even more Victims out there. Mouses' initial enthusiasm disappeared upon understanding his friends' wordless response. Although it would take time to verify it was more than likely the body count was about to increase.
"Tell Sarge your findings," the Detective instructed, "he needs to set things in motion and find out how many are buried in each location."
"Will do," Mouse rose to comply looking at his fellow ex-Ranger quizzically, "should I keep searching?"
"Yes .... I have a feeling ...... there are more."
"Damn."
"Where did he find the new sites?" Adam enquired having overheard some of the conversation.
"LA and Dallas," Jay returned to his desk and sat down dejectedly, this was fast becoming an investigation of epic proportions.
"There must be some reason Gambini chose those specific locations," Al spoke up as the others stopped what they were doing.
"The new sites are probably remote like the first two," Kevin suggested.
"I've been thinking about that," Jay informed his friends, distractedly rubbing the forehead dressing hiding the itchy stitches that he was eager to have removed, "the sites here and in Seattle aren't close to the city but they're not really remote. It will probably be the same with the other sites."
"So what are you thinking?" Antonio prompted.
"Not sure. I mean here Phillips lived next door. Why would they choose a location with people around, however sparsely?"
"Good question," Voight had exited his office after being brought up to date by the IT Technician who walked back to his temporary desk, "I'm going to brief Crowley on the latest findings. Where are the Feds?"
"No idea," Antonio shrugged, "Collins just said they'd be back in an hour."
"Well once I speak to Crowley I'll decide on who's going to LA and Dallas as soon as they find bodies. We need eyes on the ground."
"Sarge I'd like to go to Dallas," Jay needed to see one if not both of the burial sites.
"I'll discuss this with you later Halstead," Voight informed his Subordinate as he headed for the stairs then added to the bullpen in general, "when Collins and Pearson get back bring them up to speed."
"Sure Sarge," Antonio responded hoping no friction would ensue about who went where.
For his part Jay was determined to travel but he already foresaw the arguments that would be raised against such a trip. Knowing the white dressing shielding the stitches was a glaring reminder of his abduction he decided to take proactive measures. Rising he grabbed his jacket.
"Back in an hour."
""You want company?" Al enquired casually knowing better than to remind the other man of his recent abduction.
"No I'm good," Jay declined then decided to smoothe over the older mans' unspoken worries, "just going to Med. Need to catch up with Will."
"I'll tell Papa Bear."
"You're goibg to get caught one of these days!"
"He'd never kill me," the moustached man assured smugly before winking mischievously as he reminded, "besides it's Adam gave him the name not me."
"Oh thanks!" the aforementioned Detective rolled his eyes in mock disgust as Jay left with a silent wave, the Sergeant was already aware of the nickname but he didn't need to be reminded of it!
Chicago Med
As expected Will was not pleased to receive the request to have the stitches taken out. Jay had known if he allowed someone else to remove them his sibling would be even more displeased. He had even briefly toyed with taking out the annoying items himself, it wouldn't be the first time after all, but in the end decided letting the redhead be part of the equation would give him some measure of control. Of course the green eyed man also hoped it would defray concerns about his upcoming trip or trips out of state.
