Orgrimmar now lay in our sights. The city was always meant to serve as a stronghold of need be, the orcs centered their architecture around war. Though I had seen the orcish city many times before, I had never seen it like this, fortified in it's full glory. It was beautiful...
"Saerah, we're advancing." Delorsa, a death knight assigned to the special group with me, brought me back from my daydreaming, "Keep your head up, a dragon has been spotted in the distance."
I made no effort to muffle my fit of cussing, "Of corse Garrosh has called upon the Dragonmaw for aid, are the ships here yet?"
"Yes, Trinna has ported herself onto the ship to warn them and is prepared to make a portal to the docks in case we need to evacuate the ships." Though she was kind enough to catch me up on what I had missed, I could see Delorsa inching towards the rest of the crowd, "Come on, they need our help with the cannons. Even with the dragon in the sky, the Kor'kron are still trying to sink us themselves."
"Alright. My apologies, I won't straggle behind again." We hustled to catch up with the rest of the crowd.
"It's about time, soldier!" A familiar voice bellowed out to greet me.
An ear to ear grin spread across my face, "Goraff-"
"That's General Goraff to you, Saerah." He corrected, taking an axe to one of the cannons, "I'll be leading this team into the heart of Orgrimmar.
I cheered in excitement, "I won't let you down, sir!" I shot him a salute, which he returned.
"We've come too far in pandaria to let Garrosh use these evils on the world, it ends TODAY!"
A bright flash of blue came from behind us. A very exhausted eleven mage fell through the portal. Trinna, though very skilled in the art of teleportation, was truly putting her powers to the test, evacuating both Alliance and Horde ships filled with our reinforcements. The tiny elf gasped for air, "They should be... coming any second... now..."
"Thank you Trinna, now get some rest, we're going to need you again soon." Goraff motioned for us to head to the docks while he awaited the reinforcements at the portal, but grabbed my arm as I walked away, "not you, kid."
"What'd I do now?" I asked, confused. For someone who was supposed to be "just another soldier", as Baine had worded it, I sure was feeling special, and not in a good way.
"I need an ambassador."
My jaw dropped in astonishment, "What do you mean, 'I need an ambassador.'? Surly Baine and Vol'jin assigned one preliminary to the battle..." Nervously, I played with arcane energy in my hand, a newly formed bad habit of mine. All the preparation for this day had me wired, and I needed a medium to get rid of the anxious energy.
Goraff only chuckled, "You and Baine sure do have a strange relationship, he appointed you a week ago, he hadn't told you?"
I blushed a bit, recalling the nights he invited me to "talk strategy". A simple excuse for having a drink together and discussing the crazy events I detailed in my letters. Baine promised I would be treated like any other soldier, I was certainly uninformed as any of them, but I was still his friend, and that was difficult to set aside. Still, this was uncalled for. We had often reached the topic of the revolution, why hasn't he said anything?
"Says you work best under pressure, improvising. I'm not asking you to lead them, just work with them and us so things run as smoothly as possible."
I shook my head, "Oh, no, nope, not doing it. I'm fighting this battle as Saerah." I prepared to protest, but Goraff only began to laugh.
"So defiant, cut the back talk, I said nothing about changing forms," he handed me both an Alliance and Horde banner and a scroll of orders, "Your 'mission' has helped you in many unexpected ways, you can connect to them. You know how to communicate with both factions, I need you to do that now."
