(Baine Bloodhoof)
He just sits there, all day, like he's in some sort of slump. All he does is lick his paws, he'll only leave the corner if food is in the question, and leave when it's gone. I don't get it, I even tried to take him hunting like he likes, but he wouldn't budge, and growled at me whenever I tried to touch him.
"You miss Saerah too, don't you?"
He whimpered back. The poor wolf, it's my fault, not his that he isn't at her side right now. I just thought that maybe if she left him behind, she'd have to come back. And what does she do? She gets a new pet, and new friends.
The wolf began to howl. He does it every night after dinner.
"Oh would you quit it? You're not the only one who was left behind." I finished off the last piece of bread and turned to the mangy beast. "I'm sorry, no wonder you don't like me."
He let out a long yawn and came to my side, and I wasn't offering food! It took weeks, but I had gotten him to approach me. I knelt down to pet him, and miraculously, he let me.
"You're just an old dog, aren't you? You've seen it all, but all with Saerah. You've never been apart, she raised you." I said, stroking his sandy fur.
The dog seemed to nod in understanding, starring back at me with big, blue eyes.
"That's it, you remember me, don't you? How I'd chase you around with a stick for a sword, and Saerah yelling at me to quit it." I knew he couldn't talk back, but I could relate to him.
"And how Saerah threatened to shoot us with her little bow? Pft, hard to believe our little sis became the hunter she is today, that thing would break after every shot."
"Abrogar! come on in." I greeted, welcoming my good friend.
"The baker told me you were being awful antisocial, and I didn't believe her. Then here I am, walking in on you having a heated conversation with Fluffy." We looked at each other and burst into laughter.
"I still don't know why she hasn't changed it."
"Beats me. That girl is a mystery, Baine, like the songs the wind sings late at night, no one knows the lyrics, yet it's beautiful."
"Sometimes I doubt she's even a Tauren. Saerah is a creature of her own."
"Speaking of the creature, how's she doing without," he snickered a bit, "Fluffy."
"I got a letter about a week ago from her, who knows how long ago she wrote it. Things seem to be looking up, despite the crash. She has taken on a new companion, a grey and black prowler named Raven."
"Well isn't that a steak to the heart you old wolf." he sympathised, looking down at the depressed Fluffy. "Don't worry, as she says 'I'm not meant to be in one place' or, with one person." he said, looking at me.
"She's a nomad... She truly must make our ancestors proud."
"Shame she can't stay put. I confess, one would never be bored with her as a partner."
"She's still a little kid, let her live." I told him, thinking of how miserable she would be living here in the bluff for more than a week at a time, let alone the rest of her life.
"Not a kid Baine, teen is even pushing it. She's a young adult, and she has to grow up someday."
"Someday, I suppose, but no day soon. Until Azeroth is perfectly in peace, she will not be able to stay put with such excitement happening somewhere else." Abrogar was blind to the person I knew my friend to be. He viewed her as reckless, which at times she is, but a better word is courageous, or daring. Someone has to go out there and make things happen, I just wish it wasn't her.
