"Young master Wrynn, She returns." The innkeeper called out as she ran into the shrine.
I wrapped my cloak around my arm so no one else could see what had happened while I was away, I wanted as little attention drawn to me as possible.
Our reunion was brief and less enthusiastic than the last, he had grown accustomed to my absences.
I feared the worst as we took a silent stroll through the vale. What had he and Wrathion talked about? Was he mad at me for leaving again?
"I wish you'd speak."
Anduin looked around, then whispered, "It wasn't safe there."
"Whoa there, you're telling me you analyzed your surroundings, decided it wasn't safe, and lead me away from it without making a scene? You've become quite the survivalist, I'm so proud." I messed with his hair playfully.
"No, just didn't think you wanted your blood soaked apparel to draw any attention towards you is all. I'm surprised no one stopped you to perform first aid, it's dripping! Mind telling me where you got these?" He asked, rolling up my sleeve to reveal the saturated bandages. They no longer burned or caused me to cry out in agony, I'd grown accustomed to the feeling, a dangerous thing to do whit potentially fatal wounds.
"Rough mission. I'm quite lucky to be honest, I'm the sole survivor."
Anduin froze mid spell, like a shadow had crossed his mind, he looked me in the eyes, an uneasy look fell upon his face, "You could have told me what was at risk when you left, What if you hadn't survived? Another hour and this blood loss would start going to your head, and these bandages tell me it wouldn't be the first time."
"No one should have died last night, Anduin. The true purpose of the mission was vague, and in the end, we were deceived by traitors amongst our own ranks. No one saw it coming, and only I saw the end."
"Deception is a sharp blade. I'm sorry, though I can heal the physical wounds, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do to reverse the pain of your allies turning on you... It must have been difficult, raising your bow against your brothers." The tone of his voice hinted he had once done the same.
I thought of my mission, my partnership with the crew of hellscream's fist, and my obligations to the Warchief. If only he knew Sarah was a character I play. Deception is a sharp blade, one I wield.
"What scares me is that it wasn't."
"I don't blame you for feeling no remorse, what they did was cruel."
"No, that's not what I meant. I've never really felt guilty after killing a person, or even acknowledged they were one. I did for the first time not so long ago after all we've been through on this continent. I thought I learned my lesson, but as my commander said, I have a lust for blood, it's in my nature."
"That's not what I see in you." He wasn't entirely listening to me, he had stood up halfway through me speaking and appeared to be looking for something.
"Then what do you see?"
"I see a beautiful hunter born with an amazing gift. She is skilled, yet modest. Her responsibilities often cause her to forget that she is only sixteen. There is so much life ahead of us, Sarah, so many lessons to learn. And you are not the cold blooded killer you described yourself as, I think your commander is putting words in your mouth."
"That's very kind of you." Anduin jumped up and down, feeling along the top of a tree branch. Something fell and landed in the grass below, "What on earth are you doing Andi?"
He smiled and handed me a box, "Well, uh, Valurine and I noticed you were wearing your red Horde headband a lot and thought we'd get you something to represent us. We want you to know that even though you have no side, you have a place among both."
