"How was I supposed to know it was poisonous!? Looked like grass to me! And.... Ahhh! Too hot, WAY to hot." Rivett complained as Ellie soaked cloth in a boiling remedy and set it on his leg.
"Everyone knows that red grass is poisonous. I understand that you're new but you'd better learn quick! I'm only an apprentice." Ellie said.
"Great, that's just great! What else ya got out here, giant snakes?"
"We call them death adders." She explained, "Quite nasty, they live deeper in the forest, though."
Rivett shivered, "I had to ask."
"You don't have this kind of stuff where you live? must be nice."
"Yeah, but we have alliance scum, which seemed to rid this land as well." cut in Nazgrim, "So you're interested in our campaign? We could use a guide."
"Only if you can teach me to fight." She bartered. I could tell by her silk dress that she had never seen any action, she only appeared to be skilled in natural remedies and elixirs, which she had just admitted she was an armature in. I really doubted she knew the forest very well, but she was our best bet.
"Very well then. We'd better get working on this airstrip. Saerah, you're gonna see even more action today. On your feet! I want the airbase by sunset."
"Why me? and can I take a little backup? Until I make some more bandages I can't risk an injury. I used about all of them on Goraff last night."
He was still resting, now able to limp from place to place, with Gorrok trying to train him back to health.
"I have to stay back and strategize. Kiryn, are you all there yet?"
"Yeah, I think I'm recovered, just took a bad hit to the head, besides a headache I'm better than the others." She reported.
"Good. You're going to help Saerah with the airstrip."
The undead Kiryn turned to me. She was torn up pretty bad, lacking skin on her elbows and knees. She also had a scarf covering her mouth, where the flesh had rotted away. She looked very serious, I didn't get a good look at her, though, she immediately stealthed herself. "Lets go! I know you have good vision and can see me and all, but just in case, I'll be to your left."
And with that we carried on.
"So how did you end up here?"
"I crashed."
"Like, where are you from?"
"The scourge."
"Oh, nice." I myself am a very friendly person when I want to be, I love to talk to people I travel with and hear their stories. Kiryn was a bump in the road.
"No no no, like before you got on the ship, what was life like?"
"Tough, now would you shut up!" She screeched, "You're going to get the whole airbase on you if you don't."
Well, I tried.
"If I didn't know what I was doing than why the hell do you think I'm here?" I asked, aggravated. She didn't respond. "Cold shoulder? How mature."
"Shhhh."
"Stop being a jerk and go draw some attention, about four or five, bring them to the fence." I demanded. With a roll of her eyes she did as told. Appearing to be nearly thirty (at time of death) she had quite the attitude for someone her age. She did, however, do exactly as told. The workers spoke among each other, scared, telling each other something had kicked them, then realizing they weren't the only ones. Sitting ducks. I fired in the crowd, striking two dead at once. Kiryn joined in at that point, slashing the other two with her daggers.
