I give Glea credit, her bread turned out pretty good for someone who doesn't cook. I'd try to reserve it, but bread doesn't stay fresh as long as I'd with. I'm no Mage, I can't just make my own food out of nothing, so when I get the chance it's wise to gather as much as I can, because I never know when I'll get the chance again.
Nazgrim taped his foot impatiently as I took my last bite. I confess I found it kind of fun to mess with him, he was such a hot head sometimes. I had taken out most of his men already, so what was the big deal. Captain or not their leader couldn't be that difficult to kill, and an explosive shot would just about do it for those flimsy barriers. We had him right where we wanted him to be, yet Nazgrim's eyes remained narrowed, forehead furrowed.
"Where are the others?" I asked with my mouth full. It was strange to me that he only brought four men with him.
"Considering you took out nearly all the base single handedly, I thought four was plenty of backup. The others will remain on the ship until we claim this base for the Horde." He responded solemnly.
"Got it. I'll go work on these barricades. And explosive shot should be more than enough. When I yell for them, you and your men are to join me to fight the Captain. I don't know what he's got beck there, but it must be worth hiding."
And on that note I stumbles to my feet. Raven had been intensely studying Nazgrim, she sniffed him from every angle. I could see the irritation in his eyes, clearly he wasn't an anima lover. "Come on Raven." I commanded firmly. It was a delayed reaction, in that time I saw Nazgrim with all his might restrain from kicking her, but she eventually obeyed my orders and came to me, tail swaying with every step.
It was really weird having a cat rather than a wolf, I myself have never been a fan of felines. Fate had brought raven and I together in a dire situation, otherwise I would have waited to acquire a more desirable companion. She also had that mysterious teleportation power, I haven't even seen that ability in Druids. She hissed instead of growl, which irritated me. It was no where near as intimidating, and there's something about the sound of a growl that springs me into action, in her hiss I did not find the same muse.
How could I be so careless to leave Fluffy behind? I can't get over the fact that then of all moments he chose not to be at my side. Suspicion rose considering how smart and loyal he is. Something must have gone horribly wrong. Perhaps he was held back, not by Garrosh, no, he wanted me to succeed in the new land, taking Fluffy would only be a detriment to the Horde's mission. Also, Fluffy doesn't handle strangers well, he is hostile to those he doesn't know and devotes himself to killing if I fire a single arrow. Garrosh would be short of a limb if he dared lay a finger on him. Baine, on the other hand, was a perfect candidate for the kidnapping. He has know him since he was a pup and knows how much Fluffy means to me. Maybe he thought if I didn't have my companion, I would return home. Ha! He of all people should know if there's one thing I can do, it's adapt to survive. It hurt me a bit that even Baine underestimated my survival.
The two Kor'kron on the left stepped aside and bowed their heads slightly in respect as I made my was to the barricade. It wasn't well built, just scrap wood and steel they found laying around. It was, however, enough to give them an advantage if attacked, factoring in they stood slightly above us due to the staircases. My bow is an extension of my arm, my arrow an extension of my might. Nothing felt better than releasing my grip on it, sending it spinning towards the barricade. In a blink of an eye everything was on fire. I pulled my shirt over my snout to filter out the smoke. The roar of burning wood brought an impulsive smile to my face. The two standing behind the barricade were chocking in the flame. Easy targets. I stepped over the burning corpses and made my way of the flight of stairs, where I was greeted by yet another barricade.
Again it burst into flames, flooding light throughout the dim structure. One soldier emerged from the flames, better armed than the rest. He motioned towards me and five other men joined his side and engaged me in combat. Raven quickly cut them off, not a single blade hit me. They were much more prepared than the last group, they had even picked up my shirt over nose technique to cope with the smoke. As raven tried to pry off som of their heavy armor, I fired many multi target shots. Two down, but raven was getting weary. With a swift kick one of the men sent her flying behind him, she was unable too keep him from my, but pulled ferociously at his back. The four had me surrounded, steel on steel, clanking against each other echoed throughout the structure. What to do, what to do, I needed some breathing room before one oaf would go and break my bow. I took a deep breath and lifted my right foot, then stomped with all the vigor I held. The stone was left cracked and the soldiers stunned, unable to move. Raven mauled at one, and by the time the effects wore off only one remained. She was a petite girl, a bit on the chubby side, but had a pretty face- despite it being full of hatred and desire to kill me. I know it's weird, but sometimes in battle I freeze and look at who I'm really fighting. It's a shame I must kill them after just beginning to understand them. Alliance is alliance though. With a final scratch from raven, she too was dead like the others, only she was less forgettable.
Before me lie the final barrier, it was piled slightly higher, but sat there like a useless pile of junk, for it was unmanned. Captain Doren underestimated me, thinking I would not make it this far, again I had proven myself extending all expectation, must be a new record today. I decided to let the others witness the beginning of the Horde's campaign of Pandaria and called upon them, "ALL CLEAR! NAZGRIM, GET YOUR USELESS PIGS UP HERE, UNLESS YOU WANT ME TO DO THIS ON MY OWN, TOO!"
I do deserve a little praise, while he sat comfortably on the ship with ample men to spare, and it was sending them to their death while I single handedly overthrew a the base's defenses.
"Calm down kid, war's not over yet. Don't be acting like it. You may be good, but one day someone's going to tell you to shut up, and you will obey."
"I'm assuming that won't be you, sir." I added dryly. I hate when he asserts himself in the worst of situations. I brushed him aside like a bug. "Honor's all your's, boys. Take it down."
Even Nazgrim could not hold back the excitement, he and the others ran to the final barrier, ripping it apart price by piece, roaring, laughing, yelling and they tore at it, it was like they were dismantling the alliance itself. I stood back and leaned against a wall, smirking as I watched. Today, I fought, and they fought back, I had to try today, and I loved it. I loved the feel of near death, danger, the thrill made me feel truly alive. Today was the best. It was just about to get a lot better. I could see the captain's head above the pile, and no bodyguards. Pandaria is ours.
Nazgrim flung away the last of the barricade, then stood there, just eyeing the captain. I could hear him grit his teeth. He was holding back, for me? I had the honor of the kill that would secure a Horde victory? I stepped around him walking, picking up pace, jogging, running at Captain Doren. I fired an arrow, a hit! Raven was at his back, ready to pounce when... when all the color left my face. The captain hopped the edge of the terrace, falling to certain death. Only, there was no death involved in this bold move. He landed in a dwarven flying machine, and just left, like nothing.
Suddenly a nightmare became real before our eyes. The already damaged Hellscream's Fist (I wonder what happened to it) was hit by an immense cannon from a smaller dwarven battle machine. The war Zeppenin, a true gem in the Horde's killing machines, was set ablaze much like the barricades I destroyed just minutes earlier. Pieces came flying off as it spiraled to the ground. It's triumph sank to the forest floor. It's impact sent shock waves through the area, like an earthquake. I fell to my feet, so did the others. One of the Kor'kron was crushed, and likely killed, by a fallen stone from the temple. I knelt down in respect, bowing my head, morning those dead. Raven also looked upon the ground in horror. Some of her kind must have been killed, and judging by the location of the crash, one of them could have likely been her.
"There's an airbase!? ALL THIS TIME THEY HAD AN AIRBASE!? So many horde men, dead, I doubt there's a single survivor. Hellscream will have my head!" Nazgrim didn't look to well, I don't blame him. His green skin suddenly turned grey, a white aura surrounded him, I could see nothing but hatred in his eyes. "They must all die!"
