I. Haruno Sakura

The loud tick of the toaster and popping of the toasted bread out of its mouth had caught back the attention of the cotton candy colored hair Sakura's distracted mind. She held the mug of hot coffee and a fork halfway through the plate of her cooked omelet.

From the moment she had gotten out of bed, there was a deep distraction running over and over in her head. What if she doesn't pass the exam tomorrow? She would have to work double - no - triple times hard, physically and mentally.

She has to struggle paying for the reviews, lectures and preparations for the exam, by working full time, day and night shifts at the local restaurants, and if lucky, a part time job at a clinic to gain much more experience and knowledge on the field of medicine.

Focus, she motivated herself and went back to the present. After eating her morning breakfast toasts, omelet and sipping little by little on her cup of coffee, she decided to fix herself up. Physically.

Sakura stared at her build in the mirror by a minute or two. She tied her illuminting hair in a messy bun, well, not because she thought it would look cute but it was the most convenient hairstyle for it only takes seconds to make and it didn't matter if it looked messy, because her hair was naturally messy anyway.

She wore a cream colored knitted sweater with red sleevless spaghetti strapped top underneath it, and denim jeans to match together with her favorite white rubber shoes.

Sakura slid on her backpack and took the notebook on top of the breakfast table that she'd been reviewing all night, every night, and whenever she had the free time to do so. Locking her apartment door, she carelessly walked on the stairs while reading her notes.

It was a bright and sunny Sunday morning. Sakura who had her eyes stucked on her notes had failed to notice, or rather, she barely does.

She was on her way to her friend, Ino, who had called her last night and interrupted her recital on the notes she made.

Ino was her blonde friend, who she had met on her high school days and had been stuck with her until this day. You could call it best friend if you like. As of the moment, she works for their family business of floral and it was a good thing that Ino liked it. It would be hard working your whole life for a job you're completely not fit into.

That's why I'm going to be a doctor.
I will pursue my dream.

To prevent others from feeling the pain I felt of losing someone, when all your faith had to depend on prayers and hope for what the doctors can do best as you watch them and begged.

Though my parents' body were not found, still, being a doctor is the closest I could get to prevent the loss of someone.

Sakura held her head high as she smiled through the sky. Sulking over her parents will not help anymore.

She wanted to help anyone this time.

She has to be tough.

Minutes had passed, Sakura walked through the street, spotting the flower covered shop with a sign with a big lettering of Yamanaka's floral shop.

Sakura pushed the door gently causing the bell located at the side of the door to clang, notifying the people inside that a person was welcomed.

"Oh hi dear, good morning! You're early." The middle aged woman greeted happily as she fixed a bouquet of pink roses to be displayed and sold in front of the shop.
"Good morning, Mrs. Yamanaka. How is Ino? Want me to help you with that?" Sakura offered as she took a piece of pink rose stem and gave it to the woman.

"Oh no need honey, I can manage, thanks. Just head there to Ino, she's been acting like a baby." Mrs. Yamanaka rolled her eyes and smiled at Sakura who smiled as well,
"She's always acting like a big baby every day though, Mrs. Yamanaka." Sakura corrected.

As the pink colored lady went upstairs to the familiar hallways, making the usual turns the leads to Ino's floral fragrant room, she opened the door with the sight of blonde friend lying down on her bed while browsing things at her phone.

She quickly glanced at the presence of Sakura and smiled, "Thank goodness you came." Ino's eyes were droopy and her nose was bright red, she was definitely sick. Sakura thought it was just her friend's scheme to drag her here. "Hurry, I'm dying." Ino said exaggeratingly.

"You could always ask Mrs. Yamanaka for medicine. It's just a common cold, Ino." Sakura rolled her eyes as she took out the medicine she brought and handed it over to her blonde friend.

"Oh come on, you know I trust you with this medical thingy so stop complaining. Doctor's don't complain to their patients."

Sakura giggled, Ino was funny in weird ways, and Sakura loved that. She sat over the blonde's bed and took out her notes again.
"Seriously Sakura? You're here at my home, take a break from that."
"You know I can't do that." Sakura smiled as she continued to read out her notebook.

"Hmm, Sakura, wanna go out tomorrow?" A smirk trailed in Ino's face, taking the attention of Sakura out of the notebook. Yet with one look of her friend, she knew what she meant.

"No, Ino. I am not interested. And you do know I have exams tomorrow, right? Aside from that, aren't you sick? Patients don't meet random cute guys when they are sick." Sakura chuckled with a tone of sarcasm, making her friend's eyes to narrow and a smirk turning into a pout.
"We can go after your exam, then. Do you want to die alone?" Ino pointed out.
"No, I am not going to die alone. I'll have a boyfriend soon so stop worrying so much. Shushhh."

Honestly, Sakura had liked the idea of meeting potential boyfriends, meeting random cute guys with Ino. She was still a girl after all. But she wasn't like the type of Ino to flirt around, most likely it would turn out to be an awkward situation instead.

Plus, she had studies to do. And having a guy was a hundred percent distraction. Though, if she admitted to Ino that she liked the idea of having one, Ino would likely kill just to find her one. She wouldn't give up on that.

"...are you even listening? Geez Sakura, guys want your full attention, no wonder you're still single!" Sakura fake laughed with Ino's statement and answered back, "ho ho, as if you're not single as well."

"Lino and I broke up a few days ago, I wanted to meet cute guys you know, and he was a womanizer." Ino rolled her eyes with the memory.
"Okay fine, maybe the day after the exam, I'll accompany you in meeting random cute guys."

One mutual smile and giggles from both of them was enough to confirm that it was going to happen.

The noon came and Sakura notified herself that it was time to go, she still had to study. After the random chitchats with her blonde friend and farewells, Sakura walked back to path that lead to her apartment.

After taking her usual turns and shortcuts, she walked through the road alone, with only the breeze brushing on her face and mumbled sounds of car engine afar. The birds were chriping over the trees and Sakura walked through its shades. Looking on her left, the river stream was calm and gentle, its waters sparkling over the reflection of the sunshine rays.

A vision hurriedly took over her mind,

The maroon car was driving this way, making sharp turns and flailing on the slippery road of a stormy dark midnight, crashing over the river with dangerous streams as the car got washed over.

It was too late.

They won't be saved.

They won't be..

Sakura shook her head with the thought. She didn't want to remember a bad memory, rather, a bad vision of what had happened back then. She wanted to be happy, she wanted to be happy for them.

Instead, she thought of herself jumping up and down with glee as she took her exam results, she wore white coat and a stethoscope wrapped on her shoulders, working on a well known hospital by the city.

For you mom and dad, Sakura said reassuringly with the picture of her beautiful mother and handsome father on her mind.

The cotton candy colored hair lady sighed and smiled as she walked through the road with the river streaming gently by her side.
