III. River streams
Skipping several questions on the test, Sakura went over all of it to make sure she had analyzed the situations thoroughly before she could provide the best answer. Other than those questions, the cotton candy colored hair was pretty confident with her answers.
She was going to pass, Sakura thought positively.
Taking a deep breath, Sakura stood and took her answer sheets and test booklets to hand it over to the mentor.
"Thank you dear. Results will be out soon as everyone is done taking the test." The middle-aged woman greeted as she placed my answer sheets to the finished ones.Sakura went back to her seat to wait for the remaining people who had taken the test. She sat patiently on the armchair desk as she studied the other persons taking the test and wishing they could finish it a little faster.
Half an hour had passed when the last examinee had handed his answer sheets, the woman stood up and took the last answer sheet to feed it on the correcting machine.
"Congratulations to all examinee's for doing your best today. I have here the individual brown envelope that contains the score of your exam and a letter stating if you were able to pass or if you unfortunately failed. Nevertheless, the examinees' that will pass for today, will be granted the license and also an overall screening and opportunity to be part of the University's partner hospitals. For those who had failed, you are given three more months to take the test again. So, good luck, and thank you. Please come infront when called and you may proceed outside to open the envelope."
Sakura's heart beated fast as the middle-aged woman started calling names and handing them the result on the brown envelope.
About 13 names was called before her, Sakura stood and walked nervously towards the mentor. Carefully taking the brown envelope, she thanked the mentor and proceeded outside.
This is it. Sakura shutted her eyes and held the envelope by her chest. Please, please, she chanted on her head. Carefully opening its mouth, the white folded paper appeared, Sakura held it out and wished even more as she started unfolding the paper before her.
Her illuminating pink hair flowed through the breeze, Sakura stared in awe with the paper she held as a tear of joy suddenly crossed her red painted cheeks.
She passed.
The urge of shouting, jumping up and down with glee ran through Sakura's mind, but she decided she'll save it up later on her apartment.
She took out her phone and created a new message she sent directly to her blonde friend.
To : Ino
I passed! ♡From : Ino
Meh, I knew you could do it. Congrats, girl! ♡ Anyway, I don't think we'll be meeting cute boys tomorrow. Ex is currently asking me out, haha! Hope you won't be mad. Loveya girl xoxoSakura giggled with her friend's message, well, not like she wanted to meet cute guys anyway. Professor Itachi was more than enough for her.
Realizing the time, it was 4pm in the afternoon. Time for her to buy some groceries. Sakura took a bus and went down on the Super Mart. She grabbed a mini basket and started to roam around the grocery store as she was guided by the checklist she wrote on her phone. She made sure she always had a checklist of what she needed and carefully budgeted.
2nd week of September
Grocery Checklist□ Personal hygiene (Extra toothbrush & toothpaste, Sanitary napkin, shampoo & soap)
□ Canned goods (Easy-to-open sausages & tuna)
□ Extra chips & instant coffee
□ Additional to the first aid kit (Petroleum jelly, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, cotton, bandaids, etc.)This was enough for her budget this week. Good thing she still have some rice on her stock. Guess I was too busy last week that I haven't consumed much of my food. Well, the hard work has finally paid off. I'm going to treat myself some extra bag of chips that I've been craving for days, Sakura said determinedly.
After paying to the cashier, Sakura placed her grocery items on her medium sized bag. It had gotten a little heavy due to the canned goods, but not much, she could walk home with it.
Slipping her shoulders on the backpack straps and inching close to exit door of the Super Mart, the sky had gotten dark, not that it was almost evening, but because droplets of little rain had come to touch the ground.
Sakura took out her red colored umbrella and started walking through the rain. She didn't want to take a taxi or a cab, she wanted to save money and walking would be a piece of cake for her anyway. She was used to it.
The rain started to pour a little heavier and much stronger. Few more turns 'til she reaches her apartment by the evening.
Taking the usual shortcuts, Sakura crossed the path and took a view at the raging river at the side as she gripped tightly at her umbrella. The streams were fast through this dark and stormy weather. A sudden shiver sent to her spine when another flashback of her parents struggling and holding for their dear lives on this river.
Sakura refused to remember it again.
Keep moving forward.
A loud screeching noise and a sound of a car beeping violently behind caught the attention of Sakura, turning around to see, her eyes widened as a truck had been slipping on the road and was coming towards her way.
The truck missed her by mere inches, yet what happened next was still in between life and death for her. The truck was falling towards her, it will crush her if she didn't move, with the size and meter of the truck there was no way she would be safe if she jumped through the sides, the only option she had was the river behind her, and she was on the edge.
Taking one step backwards, her foot slipped on the edge. The truck took rest as it crashed at the place where Sakura stood not long ago.
The pink colored hair did not illuminate anymore for the river streams had taken her and raged once more.
