XXXI. Goodbye

It was one particular and very familiar sunny morning when the pinkette woke up.

Typical.

After making her messy bed, yawning, she headed to the bathroom for her daily routine of hygiene, again, still very drowsy. As she brushed her teeth while staring at her reflection in the medicine cabinet mirror with her half lidded eyes, she thought, What happened last night?

She couldn't really remember. Why?

After leaving the bathroom, she was still pulling everything together. Pieces of evidences in her house. She noticed the extra futon with messy sheets on the floor beside her bed, meaning someone must've stayed last night. Newly cleaned four cups used on the kitchen sink. But how could she forget? Was she drunk last night? She never drank alcohol at all. How could she be drunk last night? Alcohol was impossible.

Her chilling spine all of a sudden made her think that someone was closely watching over her. Looking over her shoulders, she swallowed. It may be a prank, she assumed. "Ino?" Sakura asked, filling the empty room with her voice. It's beginning to scare her. Why was she feeling that she was forgetting something? She checked the bedroom, no one. The living room, none. The kitchen, none. The bathroom again, none.

At the sight of the mirror in her medicine cabinet again, she now noticed how extremely pale she looked on her night dress and probably how she had gotten thin. She checked her face, tilted side by side to see her cheeks, jawline, down to her neck and collarbone. She tilted her body to the right slightly, her face still looking at herself in the mirror in side view.

Then she finally noticed. A black tattoo on her nape.. black.. tattoo..when did I-

It came to her. Everything.

"Damn it, Sakura, you're fighting it!" A man, a very familiar man, said, popping put of nowhere like he always does. There was anger but a hint of another emotion in his voice. Sadness?

"S-Sasuke. What's happening???? I- I almost forgot you existed. Snow. Itachi. I don't know why- I-" The pinkette panicked.
"I was about to fade your memory. Put it at the back of your mind where all memories go when they are forgotten." The raven said, somehow still calm as if it meant nothing to him.

"Why? You're trying to make me forget about.. about everything??" Sakura outraged. He didn't have the right to do that. It was hers. Her memories. Everything about it. Though it had started as a nightmare, she couldn't deny this felt right. Getting into that forest in the other dimension and meeting Sasuke felt right now. What right does he have to take it all back?

"This is for your own good. Stop fighting it."
"No! You have no right!"

Sasuke, for the first time, didn't know what to do. Itachi had planned they must return, and he was away to erase Izumi's memories of him. He was ordered by his brother to do the same with the pinkette. At first, the younger raven hesitated and doubted, but he trusted his brother. He knows he must.

Sakura looked even pale as her eyes began to tear, and Sasuke- didn't expect it at all.

"...but I don't want to forget about you." She sobbed gently, still trying to restrain her cries. She was unsure about her feelings, but it is starting to be clear.
