XXXXI. Uchiha Itachi

The night owl hoots under the dusk sky and the tree leaves were rustling as the wind drew by. Sakura and Konan were both walking for more than a couple of hours now, neither of them spoke too much. Konan never bothered to ask how she got back, even though it was still a wonder to her at this very moment. She was afraid to lose the trust the pinkette gave her, thinking she might hesitate coming with her.

Today, was a very fortunate day for Konan. She was in the black market to get rare illegal herbs. The only seller told her he was almost out and he may not be back for a while so he could smuggle and grow some, but for the mean time, he could only provide a week worth of it. The herbs were for him, Konan thought, she would often buy plenty, but the supply of herbs were getting lesser and lesser by the day. She was told that most farms were being raided. The herbs play a big part of his recovery. Yahiko is bedridden but a piece of herb can add more activity on his brain. Konan thought this would keep him alive and maybe someday make him regain consciousness.

When she was on her way out the market to buy her a batch, a familiar face passed by her and she had this voice inside her telling to play along with the curiosity she had, follow the person and know what triggered it. That's when she knew she saw a Haruno once again, a lock of pink hair inside the hood.

"I'm really glad your back," Konan said in relief as she continued to walk towards the place where she last saw the older Uchiha. Sakura walked closely behind her, and stopped for a second upon hearing it, feeling touched.
"I.. I wish I knew your request earlier, you wouldn't have suffered for another two years.. I would've helped you in a heart beat." she shrugged.
"I made a lot of ugly mistakes," Konan sighed.
"I did too,"
"You? What kind of mistakes would you ever have?"

"Falling for a killer, I guess," Sakura chuckled, feeling relaxed now with Konan, and Konan knew exactly who she was talking about.
"Before you came, I thought the Uchihas were heartless monsters to be honest," Konan shrugged, "But then you came along and then the younger Uchiha let his family mission rot just to save you and bring you back home."
"Maybe he was just too pitiful of me that he couldn't kill me like he was told, he shoved me back to my dimension, literally telling me he only used me for my powers," the Pinkette laughed at the memory, it was still painful but she's alright talking about it now, she was no longer a prisoner of the painful past.

"or maybe he only told you that so you'd go back to your dimension and never come back?" Konan stopped to look at her; Sakura swallowed, she never thought of it that way before.
"Why on earth would he do that? Like, what does he get in return?"
"It was probably just to save you,"
"Nonsense. He just didn't want others to use me like he did."
"What did you help him with?"
"His bloody eyes,"
"I see.. No wonder the potential and power of it grew stronger than ever... I also remembered that you got marked by him, weren't you?"
"Yea, not by will of course,"
"It's a very powerful sealing magic, do you still get affected by the mark at the other dimension?"
"I don't think so, not anymore I guess"
"Well, that's great to hear then. You would've been in the verge of death of you still are,"

"What do you mean?"
"The younger Uchiha.. well, he's been going through rough fights lately, I heard he's an ally of the government and uses him as an assassin for the well known offenders,"
"He didn't change, then. He's still a killer,"
"Yea, but.. he's changed, it's been more than a month since I last saw him."
"H-how was he?"

Konan raised an eyebrow and grinned. "You should ask him yourself,"
"Whatever. I just wanted the conversation to keep going. Tell you what, I'm changing the deal, I just want you to take me to the older Uchiha."
"Are you sure? I can spare some time to help you look for the younger one." Konan teased.
