XXXIX. Shinji
"Am I gonna be alright, doctor?" the kid with black hair asked the pinkette. He was trying not to tear up after his injection for flu vaccine.
"You're gonna be awesome. Your hand may feel a bit funny for a few minutes but it'll be okay. Rest for now, alright?"
"Thank you, doctor! Bye!" The mother smiled at the pinkette warmly and held her son's hand as they left. Sakura was always fond of kids but she has a particular weakness for any kid with dark hair. She wasn't going to make any excuse, it's definitely because it reminded her of him.Anyway, Sakura wasn't really a doctor yet. She was still in medical school and she was having her on the job training at the Kyoto Health Center and today's the last day of their 3-day-program for free flu vaccine for children. She has a long way to go before she actually becomes a doctor, but she'll work for it and it will be worth it. Or at least that's what she wants herself to think. After all the incident that happened to her a year ago, it strayed her direction. There was this desire of her to heal, but not this kind, where she writes prescription medication or whatever. She honestly wanted to use her powers again, but she never once did it again. Her mother told her it would be unwise to do so.
"Hey sweet cheeks, bar tonight?" Ino, her blonde best friend came out of nowhere. The pinkette was still on the break room fixing her personal belongings before heading home.
"I'm not sure, Ino." Sakura sighed. She knew she'd be asking her since today was the last day of the program and she hadn't got any rest for the past few days. "I mean, you know how my last date went. I met him at the bar, remember?" The pinkette took advantage of his loss and told Ino that she had hooked up with him in a bar. She uses it like a weapon to make Ino stop inviting her there. Weirdly, Ino still has an idea about him. Seems like she wasn't affected with the forget-spell thingy. But she remembers very little of it, and Sakura was grateful for that, or else, she'd be in the hot seat for a long time and she wouldn't know what to say. Apparently, Ino assumed anyway that he was a douche and Sakura went with that to end the conversation about him.
"I tell you Sakura, that excuse is about to get rusty.... Just.... Come onnnnn, you should just start dating again. Don't be such a coward, or you'll be alone forever."
"Don't worry about me, you told me that before and I got myself a boyfriend a week after. Besides, you have Sai, you've been dating for half a year now. Why do you want to go the bar?"
"Duh, Sakura, alcohol? Dancing? But fine, how about a ramen shop? I told Mrs. Haruno you'll be home late tonight so she'll be staying with mom at the flower shop for a bit."
"Alright, I am kinda hungry."
"Kinda? You were on shift for about 2 days now!"-✘-
They arrived shortly at the usual ramen shop and got their usual orders. Ino sat down with a curious look at her face, staring at the pinkette.
"You've changed." Ino started. It made Sakura flustered. "Well, not in a bad way... But also not in a good way." Her blonde best friend was serious, and this is one of those rare moments.
"I'm your best friend, Sakura. You can tell me anything. You don't have to fight this alone, whatever you're going through."
