XI. The Boy in the River
Sakura didn't want to tell the Uchiha at all that she'll be out on the river to wash off her body, but she's far more afraid if he'll follow her if she didn't tell.
"I'll be right back, I just need to wash off myself for a little bit. I won't run, I do know you're my predator and somehow my chance of survival." Sakura almost begged him, but he didn't say a thing at all, so she assumed he wouldn't mind.
Snow's tails moved gracefully, excited that they went out for a walk but instantly growled at the sight of the water behind the bushes.
"Oh come on Snow, mommy is very very dirty and so are you, now come on." She held out a hand to the Kitsune who whined and growled and decided to go back to the house and forget all about the pink lady who addresses herself as his mommy. He really didn't like the water.
Sakura pouted but carried on, she was having second thoughts actually, if it was reckless to get naked in the river at broad daylight. She looked at all sides by using a 360 degrees' turn and no one was around at all. Maybe it's safe then, she thought as she stripped down her sweater revealing her red spaghetti strap blouse.
She quickly stripped the rest and jumped right away to the calm water and hid herself from unwanted sights if there were.
This was a first, Sakura said at the back of her mind, ever since she came to this hidden wherever place this is, there were a lot of firsts. And somehow the adventure was nothing but dread, well, until now. This might have been the best experience she'll ever gonna get in this place. To bathe naked on a river.
Sakura started picking a stone by the river floor, it was a smooth rounded rock and she started scrubing her arms with it. The river water was fresh and calming and Sakura reassured this won't be the last time she'll ever bathe here.
"You're not from here, are you?" A child that belonged to a boy had suddenly said, startling Sakura causing her to drop the rock and bent her knees to soak her shoulders, making her head the only sight anyone will see.
Well, the body still needed covering underneath, considering the water was clear.
She turned around over the place where the voice came, afraid she might see a mischievious boy that threw her clothes away somewhere. Yet thankfully, her clothes was still on place but quite embarrassingly and regretfully, to see her brassiere placed carelessly on ground.
A boy stood near, almost by the age of 10 she guessed, who had silver hair and blue eyes that almost matched the water of the river.
"N-no, I came from somewhere - far."
"Is it the Konoha, big sister?" He cocked his head to one side very cutely, considering he looked more beautiful than her, she admitted. Sakura sighed in relief and all the tensed muscles relaxed, at least he meant no harm.
"No, I don't think so, it's a place I don't believe you know." Sakura said, running her fingers on her damp hair to move it all off on her face.
"You mean Kyoto?" He said with nonchalance, catching Sakura off guard. She never expected this at all, but she was hoping to.
The cotton candy lady looked around for any signs of the Uchiha just in case.
"Can you... help me get there? I need to get home, you see."
"Sure I will, it's not really far from here, come with me big sister." He smiled.
"Okay, I just need to get ch-"Sakura had stopped dead when the black crow Uchiha appeared behind the boy's back in a blink of an eye, making finger signs she had no idea about and a black small portal that had suddenly been made letting out a small black blade he took and pierced it to the boy's heart.
It all happened suddenly, making Sakura shiver and clasp her mouth and restrained herself from shouting. Never in her life had she encountered as brutal as killing a child.
The boy turned his head to look at the man who put a blade on him. The Uchiha made sure he'll remember what he did.
His body glowed blue in a moment but went pale as he dropped himself on his knees, the Uchiha never bothered to pull out the blade and made a piercing look to the soaked woman before him.
"H-he was just a boy! He w-was just telling me that he knew the place! Y-you didn't have to kill an innocent child! You c-could've just told him to go away!" Sakura cried in exasperation, with tears falling down her soaked face.
"How stupid could you get?" The man said in response, irritated with the way this woman cried, he hated that she had to over react over these things and how she involves her emotions too much. He simply didn't care of what she felt but he might as well reason out to shut her up.
"You do not say to everyone you meet that you need to go somewhere you didn't know where. They will take advantage of you. This?" He pointed out the kid who took no breath by the ground. "This is a dying kid that had been possessed by the river demon. Once a person is in the verge of dying and only a few minutes left to live this world, it is the most vulnerable host to be possessed by any demon. Now, I just want you to shut the hell up and be thankful I saved your life." He said arrogantly.
"Save my life? He wasn't a threat! He barely even touch-"
"Get out of the water. Now." He commanded.
Sakura looked at him confusingly with a little blush on her cheek. Is he fully aware that she was, in fact, naked from top to bottom? Did he even care?
"NOW!" He shouted while the riverstreams raged to drown the pink lady while she looked by the side and couldn't speak the moment she saw the raging streams seconds to come and sweep her away, then again.
Sakura felt the desire to breathe air, the desire to stand and walk as the streams took over her body and swept her once more, yet for a moment or two, she felt a grip tigthen over her arm.
"Hey." He breathed for air below her, they were lying down on the green grass, while Sakura felt her bare body was on top of a rough and damp cloth beneath her. She coughed out water that almost drowned her and became a lot more aware of what had happened.
The eyes of the cherry blossom started to widen while the Uchiha struggled to sit. "No no no nooo-" She exclaimed, though it was less than a minute before she almost died, it would not be a good excuse if a man saw her body before the wedding, much more if that man wasn't the man you were going to marry. She still have to save her dignity.
"I'm n-naked, you're not going to let go just like that-" The woman kept his body unto hers, not letting go easily.
"I don't care, woman. I-"
"Just give me your cloak. Please." Sakura begged calmly with a tint of rose unto her cheeks. This was hard for her, or anyone who saves their body for someone else. The Uchiha took a moment to calm his inner nerves and took his black cloak off and gave it to Sakura.
The woman looked at him with eyes that confused him, as if she was begging for something more.
"What?" He said annoyingly as he let himself lie down more lazily at the grass.
"Just, please close your eyes even for a few-"
"No."
"Please? It's a girl thing-"
"You don't have my trust for me to close my eyes for you." The Uchiha admitted, apparently annoyed how sensitive she is.
"Then do me a favor and look at my eyes. Not one move. Just my eyes." Sakura said desperately, finding this man unbelievable. He made no response or any signs he did mind or not, but for the cherry blossom, she'll take it as a yes for the Uchiha's dark, onyx eyes never left her jade.
Sakura quickly tuck in the cloak to cover her front while she was till lying on top of the raven.
In success of covering her front and back, she quickly stood up closely followed by the Uchiha who walked as if nothing had happened.
As for the cherry blossom, well, she bloomed more than ever, literally, out of embarrassment.
