XXXXIII. The final mark

Sakura took a while to process what he said and what had happened. He said he wouldn't take a no for an answer when he asked if she wanted to be his again. Sakura knew very well in her heart that no was never an option if he ever did ask, but she never actually thought the question will be asked. She knows he tossed her like she was nothing but he had told her everything and everything in the past finally made sense. She wanted to say yes, yet no words came out from her. Was she really sure that's what she wanted after all? Was this really what she wanted the moment she set foot on this dimension? Or was it just for closure?

Sasuke was just as worried. He put out an offer he knows she can simply refuse. He hasn't seen her for two years, maybe a lot has changed, yet he still wanted to ask, maybe to lift off a heavy cargo in his chest and to answer the question he's been asking himself for the past two years now - how it could've been if she only knew what he wanted and felt. He could see Sakura looking at him intently, confused, but she was longing for something, reassurance, security, she looked like she wanted more than whatever's going on. He kissed her gently in response, because truth be told, he wasn't ready for an answer too. He kissed her slowly, as if trying to adjust with her pace as she figure everything out.

Their heated kiss continued and the pace had started to get fast, it started to trigger so much of her emotions. It was starting to be both passionate and erotic. Sasuke pulled her closer to him, his hands gripping her hips tight and keeping it stuck to his. Why can't it be just like this?

He stopped kissing her after a few solid minutes of their passionate kiss. It dawned to him that this could be the last so he was stopping himself from getting any further.

"That's it?" Sakura says suddenly, sounding disappointed and putting Sasuke on another state of confusion.
"Sakura.. You haven't answered yet and.." He muttered.
"Y-you need an answer now?" The pinkette flushed, nervous, in heat and stupidly in love.

"Truth is.. I am a traditional man, I won't go down that road without marriage... but I do want to do it with you."

"But.. you were leading me on and.." Sakura blushes when she finally realizes what he meant. "... wait what did you say?"

"Marriage." Sasuke says as if it was just some kind of date you go to once in a while.
"That's.. you mean.. marry me? you and me? I thought we were talking about the mark" she swallows, unable to take in. It wasn't even 24 hours ago when she thought of saying goodbye to him forever.
"I wanted to mark you again but this time I meant it for marriage" he added on her train of thoughts with the I'm-waiting-look on his face.

"hold up... so.. we're making out here, and I was honestly thinking we were about to have sex but here you are... and you're proposing?" Sakura tries to calm herself down with series of counted breathing and nervous laughs. Marriage? Shouldn't they be like, dating first? But she gets it- like he said, he is a traditional man.
"Sakura, I want to do many things with you, in bed or not, but I want to do it right. I've done a lot of things with a lot of women before I met you, I used them all, but I want you to know it's not gonna be the same with you so I am offering you my mark, as a gesture of what I feel about you."

Sakura was speechless. She's taking a while to process what he had said. He was giving her his lifetime commitment. Does he mean he loves her that much?

"I understand if you won't, it's been more than 2 years and you might have someone else in your life back at your world." Sasuke shrugs at the thought, finally realizing it so he slowly took his hands off of her. He might have been too overconfident that she would easily say yes. "I've held you hostage the first day you got here, tormented you and showed you the worst side of me. I was a killer, Sakura."
