~Astrid's POV~
It was a lovely day. At least if you counted a swarm of men babbling on about how beautiful the red headed princess was.
"Hey, didn't you think Hiccup, Ruffnut and Merida looked awesome!" A female voice said.
"Definitely!" Another female voice said, agreeing.
I walked up to them.
"Hello ladies!" I said in a bit sarcastic way of greeting.
"A- Astrid!" They both said sounding very surprised to see me.
"What's with all the commotion?" I asked.
"Oh? You didn't hear?" The first woman said.
"Hear what?" I asked, sharply.
"Snotlout and Tuffnut got into a fight with Ruffnut and Merida for making fun of them. So, the two pairs competed with one another by using their wits and brute strength!" The first woman answered.
"So? What does that have to do with Hiccup?" I said, annoyed.
I crossed my arms. My fingers were uncontrollably tapping my left arm.
"H- Hiccup and Fishlegs got caught up in the fight and was forced to participate. Hiccup was in Ruffnut's team and Fishlegs in Snotlout's. Then, after so many competitions the two teams had came to a tie. They decided on a flag race to know who the better half was. They had to retrieve the other opponent's flag and the same time keep theirs safe." The second female said.
"Go on." I said, instructing them to get to the point.
"While Ruffnut was setting up the traps, she was abducted by the other team! Snotlout then used Ruffnut as ransom in exchange for the opponent's flag. But! Wait for it... Merida and Hiccup didn't give in! They concocted a plan to retrieve both their unlucky teammate and their opponents' flag! Oh. My. Gosh! And that's not even the best part!" A little girl said cutting in between our conversation before excitedly squirming.
"Then, what is." I said, looking uninterested.
"Hmmph!" She huffed, being very displeased with my facial expression.
"What she meant by that was; when they figured out a plan to save Ruffnut, Hiccup was left behind to protect their flag against Tuffnut and Snotlout while Merida set foot to get their stolen teammate back. When she arrived there, Ruffnut knew the whereabouts of the hidden opponents' flag." The second female said.
"Then! Then this happened! It... It was a trap setup by Fishlegs. But soon enough Hiccup got word of the genuise's plans and instructed Ruffnut to stay behind to fend against the mighty and evil Snotlout! Tuffnut tried stopping Hiccup but was caught in one of his sister's traps. When Merida was about to set foot on a mine fool of boobie traps, Hiccup warned her in time. They heard a loud 'dang it!' in the bushes and found Fishlegs crouching. They then held him for interrogation as to where the real flag was. When they got the information they needed, Merida tied Fishlegs to a tree. Now, they were running! Running to find the flag located on top of a very tall tree! When your fiance was about to climb up the tree, he was trapped by a wooden cage that the other team had put to ward off robbers. A.K.A, Merida, Hiccup and Ruffnut. Anyway, it was all up to Merida now! She climbed up the tree and at first she almost fell but she didn't! And in the end, got the flag and freed Hiccup! Oh, and Snotlout was pinned down by Ruffnut." The little girl said, squirming even more!
"Really?" I said, looking evily intrigued.
"Really. Where have you been all day?" The little girl said, nonchalantly.
"Apparently, on another continent!" I stormed of to some other direction, leaving them bewildered at my sudden outburst.
Why haven't I heard of this! My supposed to be fiance is prancing around Berk finding some stupid flag with that bitch-Merida and for stupidly, Ruffnut! I start stomping. Anger was gushing through my vains and into my fingers and palms as they ball up into fists. I wore a frown on my face.
I began visiting some of the players' houses. None of them were at home. Dang it! Where is he! I hear joyous laughter from a small cottage nearby. Merida. That... That... She-bag! I angrily walk up to her front door. I can hear their loud chanting from the inside.
"Well, I'm stuffed!" Snotlout exclaimed.
He let out a loud burp.
"I can do way better." Tuffnut declared.
I knock on the door, no longer paying attention to the nonsensical conversation of the two vikings. No one answers. They start laughing louder and harder. I knock again, this time to a level that all of them can hear.
"Hey, can one of you lads open the door? I've got my hands full here." Merida requested.
Someone starts turning the doorknob. It was... Hiccup.
"Astrid, your here! Finally." He said in a calm and happy tone.
"Astrid!" Everyone else exclaimed, happily.
"Well, it doesn't look like it." I replied.
"What? Wait, hold up." He said before getting out of the cottage and shutting the door.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"What do you mean, 'what do you mean!' Is this some kind of joke?" I said, frustrated.
Unbelievable.
"Look. Calm down. Let's talk this out. But before e talk this a out, calm down." He said, gesturing me to sit down next to him.
It took me two whole minutes to calm the fuck down.
"Better?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Now, tell me why your upset." He said.
"You... Ok... I know we're not living together, yet but you should still tell me where your off to in the mornings. Tell me what you plan to do. I'm your fiance and future wife! Let me in your circle of fun and games. Don't leave me out just cause some beutiful and sexy princess arrived in Berk and is in need of 'excitement' and 'adventure' in this small island compared to her great and vast country. I... I need you more than she needs you. I need you the most out of everyone. I'll miss you the most out of everyone! You... You run around and be happy with everyone else but me. I can't help but feel left out, today. Literally. Literally the whole town knows of your victory. And the one person who doesn't, is me." I said, starting to tear up.
At that moment, he kisses me.
"Why..." I said in shock.
"Because your my fiance and you're right. Tomorrow I'll spend the whole day with you and nobody else, just to make it up to you." He said.
"Promise?" I asked.
"Promise." He answered.
He hugged me and wiped off the tears on my face.
"Let's go back in, they're waiting for us." I said, happily.
"Indeed, they are." He replied, agreeing.
When we were back inside, Merida was the first person to speak up in the awkward quiet room; "Hey, Lassy. You guys mage up?"
"Yeah. Thanks for asking." I replied, rolling my eyes and smiling.
"Good." She said.
"Now... Let's get the celebration back on!" She said, lifting her cup of ale in the air.
"Hazzah!" Everyone cheered, raising up their glasses.
